So I'm the new owner that posted a few weeks ago.

To date, I have had the truck back to the dealer to try and find a squealing noise that happens at 1100 RPM when the MDS is active. I was told the noise was normal for the truck.

This week, the automatic headlights stopped working. Then the parking lights activated and would not turn off until the load shedding timer tripped.

The headlight switch would turn on and off the headlights in the manual setting, but the marking lights were stuck on no matter what the switch position.

It's at the dealer now, they tell me it needs a new BCM that is being overnighted to the parts department.

I'm hoping this is the end of the adventure, and thank heavens I have a warranty.

It's not uncommon for new trucks to have a few bugs, that's what the warranty is for. I wouldn't let it bother me much.

I was told the noise was normal for the truck.

The old "that's normal operation" line. I was also told that my vibration that starts at 62 mph was "normal".

So, I filled out the online survey, and what do you know. I now have a case number AND a case manager to figure it out.

Moral of the story. if You have an issue that has not been rectified by the dealership, FILL OUT EVERY SURVEY THAT THEY OR UCA MAIL YOU. Make sure to outline the problems, and to voice dissatisfaction with the product/dealership. It works.

Don't let the Kool-Aid drinkers fool you. These trucks DO have more problems then other brands. I have never had so many issues with a new vehicle then I have with my '14 2500. I still like the truck, but I sure don't love it.

That's the trademark feature of ram, if they didn't have any problems they would call it a chevy.

"Owners of nearly 200,000 Ram pickups and Dodge SUVs are eligible for a repurchase program and up to $2,000 in incentives as part of a consent agreement with NHTSA."

Fiat Chrysler announces buyback program details

Does every manufacture have issues, yes. But its the percentage of vehicles that have issues that set them apart.

I did, what speaks more than a nhsta buyback campaign for poor recall completion. Can't even fix what they say is a safety issue.

Let me break it down for you. (most recent recalls by the #,s per manufactures)
1 GM
2 Honda
3 Toyota
4 FCA
5 Ford
6 Nissan
7 BMW
8 Subaru
9 Mitsubishi
10 Mazda
:happy107: One would think since the top 5 make more cars & trucks than the others there would be more recalls.

Up until January I had a 2009 Dodge Ram 1500 TRX4 CC. Totaled it so I've now got my 2015 Ram 2500.
Issues that occurred with my 1500 were:
Manifold bolts breaking (known recall issue and dealer fixed)
Windshield washer fluid tank cracking (known recall issue and dealer fixed)
Vent system motors (known recall issue and dealer fixed)

Only non-recall issue I ever had was the vent system fan speed failing at level 3. In and out of the dealership in one day, they replaced the control circuit card.

My wife has had 2 Dodge vehicles and they too have been great. I consider non-recall fixes to be real problems the vehicles have and since 2009 we've only had 1 issue from our 4 Dodge vehicles. I think that's pretty damn good personally.

So Chevy beat Ram by 4 pts in your JD Power scale. And GMC beat Chevy by 5 pts. How is it that Honda & Toyota have always been at the top, but they have both experienced unprecidented issues in the past 5 yrs? Its all marketing dude. Don't believe the hype bro.

The buyback recall data only affects vehicles from 2012 or earlier. And its because of parts delays to complete the work, not the number of vehicle failures. If that were the case VW and Toyota would be out of business.

Please sell your Ram and move on.

Too bad Ford and Chevy trucks aren't separated from their unreliable cars like Ram was in that study. I would have love to see the outcome of that.

I'm interested in how my ram will hold up. I have a bad spot in the paint I need to get looked at but other then that it's good. 2016 with 3000 miles.

My 2013 f150 with 5.0 I traded for it had quite a few smaller issues. Most hit right after 36k warranty ended.

Hood latch broke.

Once the starter bendix wouldn't engage leaving me stranded. Finally cranked and dealer could not recreate.

Once it cranked with what sounded like a 5 second rod knock. I thought it was blown up. Had a pretty good tick after that on cold starts but was normal according to ford.

Door speaker would cut out

AC blower motor sounded like a jet on cold mornings.

Steering wheel controls quit working

Front rotors kept warping but ford said it was normal wear item.

Had a random downshift to second going about 45 mph which I never got looked at.

Mother in laws 2015 ecoboost edge is getting a new transmission after 3 tries to fix it. Less than 30000 miles.

Father in laws ecoboost truck had lots of issues when he first got it but I think they got then worked out with recalls.

Now I'm in a ram and will probably have some sort of problem. Not saying i hate ford, Will probably buy the wife an F150 when we get her a new vehicle. All manufacturers have issues.

The more complicated the machine.....the more opportunities for something to go wrong. I accept that to an extent. But I also have an 8 year extended on this rig......too many gizmos on the Longhorn I don't feel like dealing with n 5 years
