Looking to install an aftermarket brake controller in my 2015 Ram 1500, everything indicated there would be a brake controller harness connector wrapped in grey foam under the dash. I had grey foam wrapped under the dash, but it doesn’t look anything like the harness plugs I’m seeing online. What are these things?f7ce3febd12c4fd05cc5d9ce9c3aafe6.jpg

Those are your CANbus connectors, if you want your truck to function as normal don't pull any of those wires out..

There should be a four pin connector you need for the aftermarket brake controller to connect to.

I wrapped them back up and reattached them where I found them, although I pulled the foam off. Guess they were wrapped in foam for a reason, eh? The truck has the class 3 hitch and the 4 and 7 pin connections on the bumper, but for the life of me I can’t find a brake controller connector under the dash. Would they build out a truck with those options and NOT install a connector?

The brake connector is right above the gas pedal close to the dash wrapped in foam

I recommend the OE trailer brake controller personally. I installed mine and programmed with AlfaOBD. Works with the trucks computers and it's out of the way of your knees while driving. A little pricier than a cheap aftermarket unit and cheaper than a high end one from what I remember. Just my 2 cents though
