We left out of the 30th st station Friday afternoon and traveled overnight to Savannah, GA. We are actually staying on Hilton Head Island, SC. We did not get a sleeper car. My wife had a ticket for a work trip that she got reimbursed for and the trip was canceled so we had the credit from her sleeper car trip to use by May and wanted to visit Savannah and friends in Hilton Head. Train ride was about 13 or 14 hours and we barely slept a wink. Went and got our rental and grabbed some coffee and breakfast at a close by wafflehouse and then drove to Hilton Head and killed time till we could do a pre check in at noon at our condo. Went to the pool bar and had a few drinks, went shopping and then finally our condo was ready. Stayed up till 8pm and then crashed for 12 straight hours.

Yeah, it's tough to sleep in the regular seats, and it does take longer than driving or flying, but I used to enjoy being able to get up and walk around, and sometimes the scenery is really nice.

I told my wife I'd rather drive next time. She doesn't like driving that much which would make it more difficult if she couldn't switch off with me to make better time. We did get up and went to the café car a few times, but trying to sleep in those seats didn't work great. Wasn't a bad experience, just would have been nice to get a few hours sleep.

Picked up a used hellwig 7709 for $160cad. What a difference. Installation was very simple and the truck doesnt need to be lifted either. Highly recommended for anyone looking to tightened up their rear end ;)

The 9years of canadian winter and the rust is very minimal.

That is the same one I have, and I see you have set on the middle hole as well.

The OE bar is a joke compared to the hellwig. It must be half the weight or even less. The stock sway bar flexes easily when I stand on it where the hellwig barely moves. Pretty sure OE is hollow.

After re-arranging the garage finally got the brakes down. One caliper had a ripped piston boot. Soo went and got 2 rebuilds from AutoZone.
For $220 the whole assembly(+$13 fluid -10% mil discount). Pre-lubed pins, new clips etc. Other than the brake bleeding, almost think this is the way to go all the time.
Pads and rotors, $390 + $220 = $610 Local places wanted $1200-$1600 and that was just pads and rotors. Probably $2000 for for complete front rebuild.

Just did the clutch fan delete with the V6 fan. Truck has run at 197 deg since I've had it. Set the turn on point to 200 deg in the tune. Expect it to be the same, but will let all know if it was a bad idea or not.

IYKYK.

pretty straight forward process, in my case I had to remove the 3 bolts to the tran support, and jack up the tranny 1/2 inch to get new pan in. Thankful for all the info on this site that allowed me to get through it.
One thing that I would like to stress, have a solid plan in place on how to get the fill plug back in without your forearms coming in contact with the exhaust. Worst game of operation ever. I've got a couple new battle scars because of it

Update: It was 87 degrees here yesterday and took the truck out for some in town driving. Truck normally ran at 197 prior to clutch fan delete. Set fan turn on at 200 deg in tuner. In the stop an go of the traffic lights, fan would come on at 203-204 deg and off at 195-196. And fan stayed on for less than 2 minutes every time it came on for cool down cycle. Driving down the road at a steady 35 MPH, the temp stays at 197 solid and fan does not come on at all.

Disclosure: I deleted the shutters when I got the truck a few years ago.

I believe this was a good mod.

How many of you remember the old He-Haw show - "If it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all".

Leaving for vacation on Sat, went out to pull the truck up to the RV to get it loaded and ready, truck start's up fine, won't come out of park....sigh. used the manual override to get it moved, and you guessed it, not a single auto parts\dealer around me has the interlock solenoid in stock. Broke down and ordered a dorman off Amazon, get to spend my Friday installing it whenever it gets here, (if at all and hope it works ok)- LOL

Yeah , it sure does, but after thinking about it, fortunate that it happened in the driveway and not out in the middle of no-wheres-ville, so I guess my luck isn't that bad, If that's the worst thing that happens on this trip - I'll take it!

That is true. It's never fun having trouble far from home.

Finally got around to doing the Tranny service at 155,446 miles. New Wix spin on filter, new Mopar sump filter, new metal filter adapter, new Dorman pan w/ drain plug, new Fel-Pro gasket and Valvoline Max Life ATF +4 fluid.

Pan was surprisingly clean. Magnet had a little debris on it, but, not very much. I expected to be worse since I've had the truck almost 3 years and haven't done it since I owned it and I have no idea when it was last serviced. Who knows how long in between services, if it was ever done at all. You just never know with used vehicles.

Also installed the bed rail tie downs. Took me all of 20 miutes to get them in. Easy peasy!
