I’m not talking about anything that’s broken or malfunctioning—just something about the design, layout, or features that you’re not a fan of. Maybe it’s something you wish Ram had done differently, or a feature you feel is missing.
Maybe you wish the center console was laid out differently, or that there was a proper spot for your phone, or a proper shifter instead of the knob turny thingy....

for me im going to say a couple minor things: wish the steering wheel had some radio controls like skip song and volume. another is the little chrome piece on the center console, i wish it was black instead of chrome. the sun sometimes hits it and blinds me...

For me, heavy duty 2017, I'd prefer the ZF 8 speed transmission instead of the 66RFE 6 speed. Durability is the concern, also if trans oil thermostat is required, then make a reliable and unrestricted one.
Also make the ZF serviceable per typical.

The other biggie is the HEMI lack of cam and lifter oiling. Either fix the damn thing or make a modern non-HEMI V8 engine. HEMI is just a marketing gimmick for public consumption. It's a stock car race engine with torque increase above 5,000 rpm (documented by Engine Masters Dyno test).

Since neither of these is happening, for various reasons, oh well.

Bad design engine, cam&lifter failure, paint problems, bubbles on the fenders&doors, leaking 3th break light ,and generally very poor quality made truck.

Simple...MDS. Other than that this truck is as perfect as I can expect from a mass produced product.

Edit: I would add lack of massaging seats. :D

Yeah, I should add the things I still like, which is why I bought it.

It has the best 3/4 ton truck ride of any BY FAR. Yes, I test drove the others.

It has the best seating of any 3/4 ton Truck of any BY FAR. Exceedingly important the older and achy-er you get.

The drivetrain is smooth operating.

The frame and axle are massive and as rugged as they come. (AAM 11.5" dia. ring gear with torsen locking gears)

The engine (6.4L Hemi) gets decent mileage for a gasser (9-10 mpg towing, 16 mpg empty).

The price and warranty at the time were better than the other brands.

This said, the world has changed much for the worse everywhere. So much so I won't consider buying ANY truck again.

With my Power Wagon:

Fuel capacity. I wish it held another 5-10 gallons for longer range before needing to fuel.

Lack of telescoping steering wheel. The truck is very comfortable, but I'd like to move the wheel back about an inch to give my knees more room when I shift around. I get stiff if I sit still too long so I move more than most while driving, probably.

Not something I don't like, really, but a nice thing would be if the PW had the aux switches pre-wired for aftermarket lights, etc.

With Ram in general:

The revolving door of incompetence in executive positions, lack of significant investment from the parent company, and a dwindling product lineup with fewer choices and fewer competitive options at different price points.

The 3.55's paired with 545, I wish I had 3.92's paired with 65rfe. Second hemi tick, ok I solved it but I have to spend a fortune in oil and filters.

Other then that, it would be tied to the best vehicle I ever owned. The comfort in the cabin and the ride with the coil back suspension is a game changer. The emissions in this year is simply a far off annoyance as opposed to being a real issue with modern Rams, so I'm grateful over that. The 8 speed has potential now, but I still am glad I don't have to do all that just to check the fluid level.

16 years and if memory serves the only thing I had go wrong something in the ac under warranty. I did have the cv go out but that was because of level install and they paid for it. Oh yeah 3rd brake light, so easy to fix and forget I forgot it.

They simply don't make them like this anymore.

Honestly, I don't have any big issues with my truck. I bought it as a basic bare bones do whatever I need truck and it has fulfilled that role superbly. At under 37,000 miles I have had no issues with it whatsoever. Yeah, if it didn't have MDS that would be good, but that's not happening. I have gotten so used to the shifter knob that I don't have any issues with that feature. But now, I will be looking for a replacement truck that has more creature comforts and conveniences that I would truly like to have as I continue to get older.

Overall I just LOVE my 2019 Longhorn. It drives and rides about as good as my Cadillac DTS. I love all the features, and the interior is absolutely stunning, lots of wood and leather, plenty of storage spaces, great audio system. The brakes are spectacular, with 15" front rotors. I've had lots of trucks, I think this is my favorite.

Negatives are MDS, eTorque (not on my truck thankfully), no trans dipstick, and of course, the real biggie is the cam/lifter failure. I do hear some ticking on mine, so I feel like it's only a matter of time.

He wasn't specific, so I guess that lets 2500's into the discussion.;)

My '18 Sport has volume and skip song on the back of the steering wheel...volume right side, song left side. I agree about the chrome ring around the console, even with sunglasses, I still get a glare depending on which direction I am driving.

As for me personally, I agree with the trans dipstick on the ZF. But would be even better is not to have to jack the back end of the truck up to get it level :happy107: . Also, better quality exterior moldings...wiper cowl, rubber up the sides of the windshield...etc.

2018 2500 CC LB 6.4. 6 speed has been great for me. Engine solid and don't mind MDS. Only real complaint is AC recirculation going on when temperature dial is all the way down. I just want coldest non AC air sometimes but I have to turn back a bit and push button to turn it all off. Recirculation should be separate button like on other vehicles.

Don’t like the Shifter knob for starters, just doesn’t fit for any truck owner, either a column or counsel, considering they’re electrically shifted instead of old school rod or cable, second why power seats? You set it once never or rarely use it again, lastly put features on these trucks that should be standard equipment like tow mirrors, electric brake examples, all these convenience or group options are useless to me at a aspect, a truck is to be a workhorse not all luxury hype not gas mileage miser, the HEMI is not built for these trucks for speed they built for again workhorse my opinion if that was the case I would of bought a luxury car or a 4 or 6 cylinder. I’ve owned a trucks since ‘91 was my first truck a Dakota and moved up to a ram in ‘13 and now currently owned out right a ‘18 just use as I said it’s a truck and haul, work any related needs and my daily driver.
