So even though I know I shouldn't be, I can't help but drive through the dealership lots looking at the new trucks. I realize even with my truck on a trade, I'd still be looking at quite a difference, especially since I'd prefer a 2012 or 2013.

So, the truck I want: 2011-2013, 4x4, loaded (no leather though) with sunroof, low KMs, white or mineral gray, sport package, 5.7 Hemi, dual exhaust.

The truck I have: 2008 5.7 Hemi, sport package, leveled, just under 70,000 KMs (or just under 43,500 miles), no rust or dents, very clean inside and out, well maintained and regular oil changes, never been in any accidents.

Basically, to sum it up, I want what I have now, only newer. I don't even know why I'm looking. There's nothing wrong with my truck, but a girl can look right? Lol. SO! With that being said, can anyone give me an idea of what i'm looking at for a trade in vaule? I paid $20,000+ tax almost 2 years ago.

This is it:

Trade in value here, has it well over $18,000...IDK exactly what you have as far as options, but it seems closer to $19,000 in trade in value according to KBB.

Options on mine? 5.7 Hemi, 4x4, ummmm power windows, power doors, power sliding rear window, air, cruise, tilt, DRLs, running boards, chrome clads, box liner, remote start. Can't think of all the specifics, but thats a start.

So you think i'm looking at around $20,000??

You can have my truck lol...but yeah Id say around $17-19k for a trade. But as stated its all about what the dealer wants to pay and the sad part is you get no $ for your mods :(

I just traded a leveled 2008 SLT in on a Rocky Ridge and got $15000.00 trade in . But it all depends on how bad the dealer wants to sell the truck you are looking at.

The dealer may short change you on your truck but if thats the case make sure its a wash in the cost of the new truck.

If you're going to trade on anything, the newer the better. I'd go 2013. It'll help your residual. Unless the 2012 is thousands less of course...

The 2013's from what i'm told have improved suspension, and from what I've seen cool projectors lower spoiler and a cool new Hemi Badge. A Dealer trade you would not get what its worth but if you stick to your guns would get a good price if sold privately, just my 2 cents and the best Truck prices in the West are in Alberta, besides the 6% less just in taxes that they would hit you with anyways.

I am in Brandon Area for Xmas next 3 weeks so you may see Old Blue kicking around Town. Doesn't hurt to look but I would keep yours if I had the choice and BTW would park it for winter seeing the paint is nice and no fender protection. Good Luck deciding. Danny

It depends on what model you get... Sport on up has projectors, below has standard reflector style headlamps.

More use of high strength steels mean less weight, aluminum hood alone cuts around 26lbs from the weight of the hood I believe, electric steering cuts 4-5 lbs and boosts HP by 5, more sound insulation, and higher quality materials inside as well.

IMO, the '13 is the only way to go if you're buying now, unless the '12 is thousands less.

Personally, I'm waiting for the 8 speed V8 with air ride. It's a ZF sourced trans and ZF is WELL known for their quality driveline components.

Thank you for the input everyone!! I will probbbbbbably end up holding onto my old girl for another year or two... but the temptation to trade mine in for a 2013 is strong lol!! I don't even want to think about test driving, because chances are i'd be driving off the lot in a 2013 Sport, lol. They've got the exact truck I want sitting in the lot right now. I can be an impulse buyer sometimes, so this is definitely not something I should be buying on impulse, haha.

I will keep my eyes open for you! You may see my orange ******* the streets too... only 2 other orange hemi's in Brandon that i've seen, but no orange/black ones like mine and Brandon is not very big! ;) Are you in town now? I would love to park the truck for winter, but it is my only vehicle, and I don't think I could park it and leave it all winter... I love driving it too much!!

For real or sarcasm haha...a map?? I thought those were extinct lol

Haha unfortunately sarcasm :( If you were closer to me like North Dakota or Minnesota it would probably be a for real lol. You're like literally on the other side of the country! You've got everything I want in a truck though... Sigh....

Ya I can barely even read a map... i'd probably end up too far south like in Texas lol. GPS for the win.

Not sure yet.... think I might go talk with one of the sales guys just to get a better idea of how much i'd be looking at. I'm definitely sold on the 2013 model though I know that much!

It's a sweet A.. ride for sure! RAM isn't the same as it used to be. It's gotten better and better over the past few years.
