What has been you're Ram experiences

2019 1500 3.6l e-touque. New transmission under warranty at 40,000 miles. Would not shift out of first. Kept popping out of reverse. Had internal trans failure code. Third brake light leak I fixed myself. Passenger floor gets wet when we get a heavy rain only. Haven't figured that out yet. I've had a rattle over bumps on left side for awhile now. If I let truck get below 1/4 tank constantly kicks gas pump off. My 2013 1500 hemi only problem I ever had was the exhaust manifold leak. Both covered under extended power train warranty. That truck had over 100,00 and that was only problem I ever had with it.

My view is Rams are solid but we see so many threads in here with problems and i get it, you want to know what to do or vent.
Just want to see if this is widespread or more like what I've experienced.
I want to know who has a Ram and if you have had no problems or minimum issues. Just tell us how your truck has been for you.

One day I may want a newer Ram from my 2007 and want to know how the newer versions are doing compared to the trouble free Ram I have.

When I first got my current Ram, it had a ticking lifter around 2k miles but took it in and they replaced them all and hasn't had any Issues since.

I had a 1998 Ram before this one and again when I first got it, the main fuse went out while on the freeway. It shut off but I coasted to a offramp and into a parking lot. Can't remember if i had it towed to the dealer or if they came and got it but they replaced the fuse and no issues after. Traded it in for the 2007.

In September 2013, I bought a new ram 1500 Laramie longhorn. The only thing that truck did was run perfectly for eight years. At my 100,000 mile service, I had them check the brakes and they said there still was 15% brake pads left. Sorry, it was a mental thing, but I had to have new brake pads after 100,000 miles. That's the only major service I did with that truck. And every 25,000 miles, I spent the money to have all fluids changed. That had to maximize the life of the engine, transmission, etc.

Last April, after 141,000 miles, I decided to trade it in for a new one. The only thing they discovered at trade-in was a pinhole in the manifold that needed to be replaced.

So I took delivery on a new ram 1500 Limited longhorn eco-diesel 3.0 L..... what a great truck!. It rides like a Lincoln town car. It now has a 6'4" bed, motorized side, mirrors, and all the electronics, sensors, cameras and 12 inch display screen are fantastic. At 55 mph I average close to 30 mpg, at 70 mph I average 26–27 mpg and at 80 still get close to 25 mpg. And when towing our 21 foot, 4700 pound RV I get 17 miles per gallon.

It's a shame that the push to electric it's going to end the eco-diesel after this year. If you're thinking about getting a new ram truck at the 1500 level, I cannot recommend the eco-diesel enough.

Non-maintenance related issues

2010 Big Horn (5.7, 2-wheel drive, 3.92) had a few recalls and the third brake light leak. At 101,000 dealer replaced all exhaust manifold studs and nuts for exhaust leak under warranty. Sold at 104,000 miles.

2014 Big Horn (5.7, 2-wheel drive, 3.92) had ABS Control Module fail at 15,000 (warranty), rear brake light leak. Dealer re-lubed rear driveshaft splines for driveshaft bump when stopping. Sold at 94,000 miles.

2019 Laramie 5.7, 2-wheel drive, 3.21) arrived with numerous assembly flaws: front bumper & grill misaligned, box misaligned, upper glove box lamp constantly illuminated, rubbing sound from headliner caused by missing anti-rub pads. Since: rear brake light leaking (3 times a charm!) and rear window replaced. Currently close to 80,000 miles.

Have yet to replace brakes on any Ram. No lifter tick, either, and the 2010 & 2014 were on 10,000 mile oil change intervals.

I have a 2012 with the hemi engine. So far I have had no issues at all. The only towing I do with it is my boat so it hasn’t really been rough handled. I’ve also had a couple of other rams that gave me no issues. I hope I didn’t jinx it.

That’s what I do with mine. 10,000 miles. I haven’t had to change the pads yet. Around 65,000 miles. 2012 year.

I've got about 48,000 miles on my factory-ordered 2018 CTD 3500 Tradesman. I kept my last truck for about 20 years ending up with approx 250,000 miles. I can see me doing this again with this truck. And I love the manual G56 transmission.

I had a 2012 that i traded in at 310K with a 5.7 Hemi that had both exhaust manifolds and broken bolts in the heads, replaced under warranty, which is all I ever had to do with it. I now have a 2018 with 121K and have had the Drivers Side exhaust manifold and bolts replaced, the starter motor replaced, and the radio replaced all under the MaxCare Warranty. Other than that it has been trouble free.

I have had 3 Ram 1500’s the last 20 years latest a 2019 1500 they were all great and keep getting better every time I bought another one.

My 2018 1500 has been my first Ram. At the time the ram was the best value and I personally like the look, comfort and power. Both my dad and grandparents had 2 rams so I already knew I liked them. I like the 5.7L paired with the 3.92 gears. My truck came with katzkin leather covers as well. I bought it used in May of 2021. So far I have had Manifold bolts done under warranty, the hood repainted under warranty, then just got it back from getting the manifolds and bolts replaced on both sides. I still have a delaminated radio but it is still functional, this is not covered under warranty. I will eventually replace this on my own. I also have a slight amount of surface rust on the rear bumper which the dealer wont cover, they claim it's not OEM but the truck was never in an accident. All this being said, I still like the truck, I would consider buying another after this one. I think for the price they make a nice, comfortable, powerful truck with multiple options.

I was a Chev guy for years and bought my first new RAM Longhorn in 2013 ... Had a battery issue with it but nothing else ... Traded in for a new 2017 Longhorn and had a transmission issue, and my 2020 5'th Gen Longhorn, so far no issues ... The issues on my 2013 and 2017 were repaired under warranty and no problems afterward ...

I bought my 2021 1500 5.7 4x4 warlock last July with 10 miles by next week will be at 25k miles. No issues at all.

Best truck I've ever owned. 5th one since I started.

2017 1500 4x4, Eco. Couple of recalls. Did throw a code 1 minute from home after a six hour drive. Reset by dealer OK. Knock on wood, no other issues.

It was about 1995 when i first got on the Internet. Since then, brands my wife and I have owned are Ford (2) Dodge, Subaru (3), Chevy (2), Hyundai (2), Nissan (1), Infiniti (2), GMC (2) and my current Ram 2500. That's 16 vehicals from 9 manufacturers.

If I believed what I read on the Internet, then every one of them was complete crap.

In reality, I mostly haven't had any major problems. The only ones I recall were:
1. A 98 Dodge Neon that b.ew a head gasket at 98,000 miles
2. A 1999 Ubaru Forrester that kept warping brake rotors. Turns out towing a 2 place snowmobile trailer with a Forrester is a bad idea even if you aren't technically exceeding it's capacity

Bought new in 2016 with 35 miles. Just before it turned 12k miles, the rear window started leaking, so the entire rear slider assembly was replaced under warranty. I had purchased the extended warranty, and at 65k I had all the manifold bolts replaced for about the cost of the warranty. Other than that, no complaints. 95k now, I expect many more miles out of it.

My 2018 I purchased used with 30 thousand miles needed brakes , shocks , and after i had it for 2 or 3 months the radio screen took a crap. Dealer wouldn't fix anything . Other then that I have 70 thousand miles and is running strong . Not happy about the radio and the shocks but it is what it is I guess when u buy used .

It's good to hear positive comments about the trucks that have given good service. There are a lot of good trucks out there doing what they were built to do and owners usually don't post about the trucks that are not having issues. Then I see owners posting about wanting to replace the camshaft before it fails because they know that it is going to fail or replace the manifolds because they are going to fail at a given mileage. The majority of Rams are very good trucks.

Agree and why I started this thread. Wanted to see if we would see a lot of durable stories about the trucks as opposed to seeing issues all the time.
I've heard of the manifold bolt problem but I haven't had it. Not sure what years this is supposed to be more prevalent.

My 13 Ram RCSB had 88k trouble free on it when it was totaled by an uninsured driver. I've got 70k trouble free miles on my 17 QC.

Needing brakes and shocks at 30k is unusual. Do you do a lot of mountain driving?

My new Rams were a 97, 99, '14 and this '22.

97 was a 1500 and I was not yet ready for a 1500.
Truck itself was fine, it was the Everything 1500 that ticked me off so traded it off for a 99 2500 V10.

99 2500 V-10 had one radiator, one fan belt replaced and 190K when I traded it off for the 2014.
Outside of my 79 F-250 Behemoth, that 99 was best truck I've ever owned.
Actually, it was. Memory makes that 79 more than it was.
99 was my Best.

My only real issue, ever, was the 2014.
It had the failed lifter that chewed the cam, all of which was covered under warranty.
Even still, it soured me greatly on the Brand and I am an acknowledged fanboy.

Medical reasons made me trade the 2014 Ram off for my Wife;s hot rod Explorer.
New Hips, I decided to get a new truck.
Ended up in another Ram because it was the best truck, for me.

Was not looking for a Ram. Heck no. That Lifter mad me mad as a hornet.
I looked at everything else. Drove, or tried to, everything else.
Even with new Hips, some of them I could not get into to, at all.
Spine and knee's need fixing too.

After trying out so many, got to thinking about all the issues that all my friends have had,
with their trucks of darn near every make and configuration.

Realized, My Ram' s have treated me darn well.
So, went looking at them too.

Found one that had the drive train I wanted and bought it.
Also got the best Maxcare Extended Service Contract I could buy.

Your 07 is a known great truck.
2014 to 2016 had lifter issues, not so much afterwards.
Though, like with anything, there always "Those Few"

Personally, Chevy Big Diesel 3/4, Ram 5.7L 1500 and up,
were the only power plants that I really considered.

All others were far too under powered or mighty mouse motors,
like my Wife's Hot Rod Explorer, that I simply do not trust, for the long haul.

I wanted Power, not turbo this or supercharged that.

Don't give me a 150lb guy on Crank.
Give me the 240lb Bone Crusher.

May not ever use this truck, for any real work but, if I ever want to, the darn truck better do it.
Otherwise, may as be driving a Prissy Pruis
