What In The World Is This?

This is a little canister under the rear passenger side door and I have a buddy who just bought a 99 Dodge like mine and his is disconnected and just hanging there, so I hooked it back up and I don't know what it is? any help would be great

it's your EVAP canister and EVAP canister filter. The round one is the filter.

Thanks, well I got his filter canister reattached and ran a new hose for it and added a metal clamp so it won't come off again.

I have the same thing under my 99 Ram, but I really have not had the pleasure of doing an investigation on mine, Still have a 10 day Inspection sticker on mine so i'll be asking when I get it inspected
