Just out of warranty on my 2018 and I have an intermittent ABS warning. Thinking about purchasing an extended warranty but would this be considered a pre-existing condition? How do they know? Is the truck sending trouble codes back to MOPAR?

Most places will require a pre-inspection before selling you an extended warranty for a vehicle that is out of mfr's warranty. Some even have clauses that issues within xx miles or xx days will not be honored. It's how they protect themselves from exactly what you are trying to do.

New vehicles are eligible for a Mopar MaxCare service contract up to 3 years or 36,000 miles from the original date of purchase. I believe your vehicle qualifies for the following:
"Traditional Pre-Owned Vehicle plans can be purchased on vehicles that are no more than 10 model years old and with an odometer that reads less than 150,000 miles, or less than 125,000 miles for vehicles with a 5-year/60,000-mile Powertrain Limited Warranty provided by the manufacturer. Your dealer will complete a Vehicle Inspection to ensure the vehicle is eligible for coverage."

Your truck isn't sending anything back to Mopar. There may however be a log that a tech can pull to see when a particular error began throwing codes.

Actually our trucks do send information to MOPAR's site ...

I kept getting the Health and Performance reports from mopar.com every Saturday even after my Sirius XM subscription expired ... I kept getting warnings that my abs needed service, that my TMPS sensors needed service (I changed the thresholds with ALFAOBD), that I needed my A/C serviced, all sorts of things that needed service but I never once got a warning or error on my dash, I even checked with alfaobd and nothing ever popped up ..

I finally decided to call the dealership and ask them why I kept getting emails about my truck's health and performance reports and the service manager puts me on hold .... he then came back and said, "this is weird, your subscription to Sirius XM expired after one year and you are still getting these emails?" ...I said yeeep ...

Puts me on hold for almost 15 minutes, I hang up and called back, he gets back on the phone and says this to me "I have fixed the issue, you will no longer get reports about your truck's health and performance" ....

I was like nice ok thank you ...

Something made me look on mopar.com and what do you know? I no longer have access to the health and performance reports ... this was within minutes of hanging up with him ...

A couple months later I took my truck in for the replacement of the fuel tank and that's when I found out it was cancelled ... but then the service guy says to me "is there a reason you have not brought your truck in to have it's ABS service" ... I was like what? Why do you ask that, he says "well, the health and performance report is reporting an issue with your ABS system" ....lol

I then asked to speak to the service manager and ask him about this, he pulled the service tech to the side, they spoke for about 5 minutes, took a walk to my truck, came back and said "We apologize for the inconvenience, but there is nothing to be looked at regarding your trucks ABS system in our system, the tech made a mistake and pulled up another truck"....RIGHT! LOL ..

Everything is getting reported about our trucks whether we know it or not, even if the Sirius XM subscription is expired it still reports it to mopar.com but if they update their system in time the owner will not get emails reporting the issues, it's simply a way for them to make money ...

How do I know? I know a service manager at another Chrysler dealer who told me that the performance and health reports are a scam and give out false positives to get the owners to bring in their vehicles into the dealership for services that are not even needed lol ...

So take this bit of info however you guys want it, I am all about integrity when it comes to customer service and business, everything that happens to our trucks is being monitored, recorded and even manipulated ....

Here are the last reports they sent me 3 years after the Sirius xm expired lol

Mind you, I never got anything on my dash about these suggested and immediate actions suggested on my truck's dash lol ....

They claimed every time over the phone that there was nothing in their system that needed attention but to go ahead and bring the truck in so they could diagnose it with the proper equipment lol .... RIGHT !!!!

To this day, I have zero issues with my engine, transmission, ABS, safety air bags, A/C and everything else they have reported that needed issues lol ...

That's interesting. Even eye-opening. Did your buddy indicate what years they could monitor? I have a 2012 with the old-school radio. I've never received anything from Chrysler.

Thanks for sharing..

Jeepwalker, seriously Man, the amount of BS that this dealership and even mopar.com has put me through since I got my truck is a joke.

First oil change out of the 3 that they gave me for "free" their service tech doing the oil change used my front driver's side wheel as a step stool to add the oil back in the truck, scratched the **** out of it and they said they were going to fix it, gave me a date and I gave up because their "professional wheel repair guy" was too busy

Then my truck starting having refueling issues at the pump, they said to bring it in so they can replace the fuel neck, they supposedly replaced it and gave me the invoiced where the said they replaced it with the new and improved/upgraded fuel neck...NOPE! it was still the same one from factory because I marked it to see if they would actually replace it lol

Then the recall for the tailgate latch, they supposedly replaced it, I again marked the latch myself and checked after I got my truck back to see if they replaced it, NOPE same one ! lol ... that's why it still showed that it needed to be replaced because I had them fix that in their system stating it was never replaced after I showed them the pictures of the stock latch still on my truck

Then the appointment to get my fuel tank replaced as they claimed that was the only way to fix the pump clicking off at the gas station preventing me from fueling my truck up in a timely manner .... RamCares got involved how? I have no clue, I go in the day of the appointment only to find out from the Service Manager that RamCares said they were told by me that the issue had been resolved out of pocket ! NOPE WRONG!

Last one that I can remember, they wanted me to take in my truck to have the A/C and TMPS sensors serviced because they got an alert that they were having issues with it as it showed in my "health and performance report" ...WTF I don't even have that service anymore !!!

I have tons of other things to talk about but I can't find the emails buried in all the other emails I have from other customer service bs I have gone through not just with Ram but with other companies lol .... Integrity man I tell you, they just don't have it anymore in customer service, companies get away with so much and just because they have money to pay off Joe Shmoe and Patty Matty .... complete BS!

I don't have a smart phone, so i having Uconnect Advantage would have been a useless tool for me to have.
I had a very good Service Adviser, we had some conversations away from other employees & customers.

The SA job is to upsell first & at the same time, keep the customers happy

With things like changing brake, steering, transmission fluids, there are 3 mileage points
Severe Usage, like Taxi Service
Heavy Usage, like delivery services, sort of like Auto Parts Warehouse Drivers, same vehicle is used by multiple drivers, 10 to 12 hours a day
Then the normal person

An SA tries to sell everything as early as possible
They want the Normal driver to get Severe Duty services, their job is to get all your services as early as they can.

I truly believe that Uconnect Advantage, Sirius Guardian, etc. try to do the same thing, only they do it by suggesting that your ABS or whatever is malfunctioning

And another reason to avoid dealer service departments , this way they don’t have to look you in the eyes when they are feeding the bs treatment.

If your truck was able to receive Sirius XM then it could be monitored ... not sure what year that started but that is what they used to send people those health and performance reports and you could go on mopar.com to check it all out yourself ....

That is basically how this guy explained it to me lol ... which is really a scam, no other way to call it ...

Goes back to some posts of mine a while back where I posted that they would sometimes get customers to take their vehicles in only to use them as donors for vehicle repairs when they couldn't get certain parts in time .... example ... they called my truck in because my transmission is "faulty" ... Kimberly's truck just blew her transmission in and since my truck only has 15k miles that is the perfect truck to call in and take it's transmission out to use it on Kimberly's truck ....

Now they tell me, hey man, yeah your transmission is going out and we have to order you one and it wont be here for about 2-3 weeks ... you have no choice but to agree to it because they already opened it up and they use scare tactics like "if you drive away with it we will have to make record of it that you drove it against our advice that you shouldn't drive it" So now you have no truck for 2-3 weeks ... now more parts are being taken out during this time from your truck to do repairs on others and they use those old parts from broken vehicles and stick them in your truck ...and what does that do ? It keeps your truck going back for repair after repair ...

I am sure someone on her is going to say I am on something lol ... but having worked at a dealership busting tires, doing oil changes, alignments, small stuff like that, I saw how the master mechanics made their dealerships money .... shady work, lied to people all the time and just plain and simply unethical ....
