Did the noise actually reduce or completely stop when you put your hand on the air cleaner box?

It doesn't have a "tang" sound to the knock so thinking it's not a rod or wrist pin. It might be an injection issue either timing or spray pattern. Maybe run some diesel fuel injector cleaner to see if the noise changes.

Yeah I don’t think it’s a knock or anything. I usually run fuel additive. I haven’t in a tank or 2. I’ll throw some in. I also have a dual fuel filter kit with fleet guard filters on it.

I think that was just the wind overtaking the audio. But I noticed it most after replacing the water pump. I removed and reinstalled the air box to see if that helped and it didn’t.

SOLVED!!! Truck needed a valve adjustment. Sounds way quieter now and no more thumping noise.
