First off, not sure if this goes in exterior or engine/tech so I posted it here.

I was getting under my truck for her first oil change and noticed this under the driver side. Right under the driver side door. I looked and saw one on the passenger side as well.

Vibration dampener, pretty much every vehicle has them in some form or another.

I know on ships they use to slap plates on the keels to attract rust and prevent it on the ship itself. Could this be some sort of rust prevention?

Those are made out of zinc. I found somewere that its belive to be a dampner for the MDS. Some guy took them off (9lbs each) and said he felt a vibration on the highway. He then put them back on and the vibration went away.

No, it is a dampener.

Sea faring ships use zinc plates as a sacrificial "anode" for the electrolysis process generated from the salt water. Those anode plates are maintenance items requiring periodic replacement.

Those are zinc anodes on ships. Zinc is sacrificed in galvanic circuit so steel won't oxidize.
