Last week we got in our 2017 1500 at about 9:00 AM and drove North to our cabin in Battle Lake, MN (about a 3 hour drive). When I got out of the truck I noticed the LARGEST bug splat I have ever seen. It had to be the size of a golf ball, with yellow guts.

Anyone have any idea what that might have been?

No signs of feathers or fir, so I don't think it was a mammal.

It must be pretty tasty because the next day it was all covered with ants and other bugs slurping it up.20220823_151523.jpg.

The Giant Water Bug is the biggest bug in Minnesota -- a full 2-inches long and about 1-inch wide. This creature is in the insect order known as Hemiptera, or the "true" bugs.

Minnesota's Giant Water Bug, is likely what was on your bumper
