what to stry looking at..

okay so a buddy of mind just replaced his ball joints and looking at his I figure I need to start doing the same..just aboout at 165k give or take..what should I start looking to replace..

iv done the coil springs and shocks.

so far on my list I have

ball joints

also can I expect any increase in rose quality? the truck as is really feels pretty much every bump in the road and is not as comfortable as other vehicles iv been in, and I know alot of it has to do with the sfa and just the truck being pre luxury truck era.

Only 3rd gen and up 1500's have IFS

Lmao, no you have IFS. Independent Front Suspension. Check the tie rods, I'm not exactly sure how the front end is set up so not sure on what else to look for.

Incorrect, 2wd is technically IFS just no drive axles.

No, not really...I replaced mine in my Gen2 (1996 2WD 1500)....more time consuming than anything else. Both my uppers and lowers were pressed in...but after renting a ball joint press to press the old ones out and new ones in, my ride quality was like new...better than new actually.

Sway bar links, if theyre bad your sway bar is useless. And sway bar bushings if theyre shot

resurrecting this thread, due to recent circumstances thinking I am going to be dipping into my college fund a little to make the truck safer and more dependable.

Please if you have any suggestions let me know, really want to make the truck safe as possible and dependable.

definitely tie rod ends, upper/ lower ball joints, sway bar links and bushings if you never did them
