One of the dealers low paid detailer's drops his rag on the ground then picks it up and proceeds to finish your truck with dirty rag with whatever was on the ground.

I would be highly pissed off and I am sorry to say the least I would ask for is in writing,is life time that you own the truck warranty on the paint!!

If you are trying to make another deal on another car use this issue on your truck as leverage on the one you are trying to buy.

I am talking like minimum 5-8% below dealer invoice!

Good luck with resolution, i hope it goes your way.

If I were King the OP would get a new truck.

Or very least, a new full bed :D

250mi? Pfft. That's nothing. it's still brand new.

OP,
That's BS what happened to you. Total negligence.

And I find this kind of stuff happening more & more every where. Why?

No. Accountability.

Betcha if that dealership had to give him a new truck they'd be MUCH more careful when dealing with OTHER peoples cars in the future.

After a week of not having my truck, I am supposed to pick it up today. I told the manager that if it was not 100% like new and matching perfect. I would file a claim against them on my insurance to get the whole side of the bed resprayed. he told me that the body shop does amazing work and shouldn't have any trouble matching the original paint. I guess we will see tonight when I get off work.

why on earth would you tell him that you'd go through YOUR insurance?

granted it wouldn't be an at-fault claim, but that's a little ridiculous to say. You'd be taking the responsibility off the dealership and onto yourself, probably having to pay up front and then get reimbursed after your insurance company subrogates the claim.

If you go and see that truck, and it's not 100% perfect, you should be telling them that they owe you a loaner for as long as it takes for them to try again.

So I get a call from the service manger saying the truck is back from paint and is ready to be picked up. I asked him if it was correct and I cannot make this up he said "Mcdonells paint shop doesn't do bad work, they have been painting for us for 10+ years they never mess up." So i drive 20 minutes out of my way to pick my truck up. Good thing was they painted the whole side of the bed and not just the scratched section, but there are fish eyes and you see run spots all through out the side of the bed. I lost it right then and asked him if he really thought this was acceptable. I then walked inside and saw my sales man and told him what happen and of course since i wasn't buying anything he avoided me the rest of the hour and a half I stood around waiting for answers. Finally the service manager walked out to the truck and i told him the whole story. He said he would call the body shop first thing in the morning and see when they could respray it. I then walked back inside and asked to speak with a manager. After another 20 minutes of waiting around a assistant manger came and sat down and talked to me. Told him the whole story again and asked him what we were going to do to make it right. He told me they would get it fixed as quick as possible and fill up my gas tank and have it detailed. He said he would also tint the front windows or throw in a trailer hitch. I told him not to detail it because i do not want it scratched again and that we would work the rest out and put it in writing once the bed is fixed correctly.

@BlownGP I attached the only picture I have on my phone.

@jcat Insurance adjuster is a close friend and told me that they would file a claim and then once the truck is fixed send a bill to the dealership. Not costing me anything out of pocket.

@greygoose Thank you, I loved the truck for the 6 days I had it in my possession. Nicole my original sales lady was nice and super helpful, then Brandon jumped in on the sale and he was annoying. A typical fast talking salesman only caring about getting sales not what the customer wants. Honestly once I get this situation taken care of I will never step foot on that lot again. I don't care what they offer.

@hemistarpower if this doesnt work out this time I will demand a a new bed or a new truck. I think them having a brand new truck for almost a week and a half and having to paint the RH side of the bed twice is worth that.

Well I still think it's prudent to give the dealership one last shot to fix it. At least in terms of it ever going to court, you have to at least give them a chance. If they still get it wrong, and insurance will do it for nothing out of pocket, by all means go for it. Funny they offer tint and a hitch and a tank of gas. Why not just put that cost toward painting the damn thing properly

@jcat I mainly gave them one last chance because if I do end up going to court with them. It shows the judge I gave them adequate chances to fix the problem. I am still not happy about having a brand new truck that will have the RH side of the bed painted twice. I guess I will find out soon what they can or cannot do for me.

finally got my truck back tonight. everything turned out good on the paint they repainted the whole side of the bed twice and put it in writing the lifetime warranty. the only problem is they put 30 miles on my truck and used almost a quarter of a tank of gas. I was promised by a "manager" they would fill the tank and tint the front windows or throw in a trailer hitch. I spent a hour at the dealership tonight waiting for the "manager" and turns out he was just a sales associate who promised me things he had no authority to promise. After being so pissed it was a best for me to leave the real new car sales manager called my fiance and got the whole story he said he would talk to his sales team tomorrow and call me back by 11 am to tell me what he is going to do for me. I told him it was not about the the extras they were going to throw in. It was about me buying a brand new truck that has had the RH bed side painted twice. I guess I will know what he is going to do for me tomorrow.

Glad the paint turned out ok.

So the lifetime warranty on the paint seems like a hell of a deal(As long as they honor it) Should help you sleep better. Hopefully they come thru with there promises and deal with the person who wrongfully made you those promises.

It really is appearing integrity is a thing of the past.

I have it in writing that the bed will have a lifetime warranty so I do not see them getting out of that without me fighting it. that was the main reason I was okay with them painting it. As far as the other stuff goes I will never step foot on the lot again. so whatever they offer should be able to be shipped to my house.
