I have a 2011 ram 1500 that the engine seized up in. What all years can I take the engine from and it work in my truck?

Agreed. Get the computer too if you can along with the harness and sensors.

Any '09-up engine should work, but aren't the '15-up PCMs encrypted on the 1500s? Might want to verify or just use the original computer and sensors.

From what I was told the fly wheel lost a balancing weight off it which caused the crack to get off balance and all hell broke loose at that point. Thank you all for your help.

From what I can see only 2010-2012 are direct swaps into your truck. I just used a program I used for work (car-parts.com). You can basically search junk yards world wide by year/make/model and exactly what you need. There has to be a reason why it only lists 2010-2012 for yours. I would go on there and search a yard near you and call them. Their computer will usually tell them why. It will not usually tell you why directly online searching. I just recently put an engine in an '05 Ram 4.7. Only that year will work with that truck because of the trigger wheels on the crank and the cams. So, you really have to be careful. I do engines a lot, and I have been burned when one of the places we get used parts from will send the engine and something is different because they did not look closely when ordering, like a trigger wheel, and it will not start when it is all done. If you want me to make some calls and find out. I will be more than happy to, just let me know.

I just read your previous, most recent post, before I just typed the first paragraph. Is a reputable mechanic looking at your truck that you trust? Flywheels do crack and then break apart, but it is not common. It sounds more like your flywheel broke apart and wedged the remaining remnants of the flywheel against the bell housing. The engine may not be locked up.

Oh, haha. I just re-read that. I think that you're right. That makes much more sense. What I was talking about with the flywheel does happen, but it is very rare. That usually happens, with the flywheel, when you beat the ever living **** out of the car/truck repeatedly with a load.

2013 and up are different. the reluctor wheels are different on different years and im sure there are a few more differences. it would be easier to find a builable motor closer to your year if you cant save yours

from my note 8

I don't haul anything with mine. I have the outdoorsman edition with 4 wheel coils so it doesn't haul well lol
