I am buying 2 12" kicker cvx124. They run 1500 max watts and 750 rms each. I want these subs to pound. I was thinking of buying a Hifonics HFi3000D. I was wanting to know if this is a good amp to run these subs. Is there another amp that is better?

don't get the 4 ohm versions, you will end with an ending ohm rating of 4......which means you will need to get an amp that can push that power at 4ohms (more $$).

No:

Yes:

That Hifonics you are looking at.......only pushes 750W at 4ohm, so you'd be pushing half the power you want if you went with the dual 4ohm subs. The dual 2s would present 2ohm to the amp, and it would push 1500 watts to the single channel.

Not bad. Hifonics are relatively cheap - I don't know jack about them, but it seems to be a good match for your subs (if you do 2ohm!) :D

Honestly I don't think you need an amp that big. I personally would look at an amp in the 1000 watt range. Over powering them is not going to make them pound more than giving them the right amount of power.

Edit...i looked at it wrong and was thinking 750 watts rms total...lol

I was looking and saw a Boss PH3000D. Is this a good amp for this setup? Is there another name for the 2 ohm ones?

do NOT get BOSS, anything.

To correct one, you can get two DVC 4's and wire to either a 1 or 4 ohm load. So look for an amp that will do max power into a 1 ohm ;load, OR, get two DVC 2's and look for a mono amp that does max into a 2 ohm load.

I'd say Kicker CVX dual 2's and get a Kicker IX1000.1 or ZX1000.1
Both of those do max power into a 2 ohm load.

you get what you pay for in an amp. This is the most important part of a quality sounding system imo. This is the one part of your system that you should spend the most on in my experiences. Go to your local stereo shop and talk to them...they will have the best insight to what you should get and then you can test it out before you make a purchase. Alwys heard good things about audiobahn(thats what I run) MTX, rockford and JL. Also check your local CL. Lots of people just upgrade or outgrow their current amps leaving perfectly working solid amps up for grabs at a lower price.

Make sure you buy something quality. I wouldn't push the subs to their limits. You'll end up popping one and then you'll be pissed. Best thing to do is find something that can bridge down to 2ohm and run that way.

2 ohm 'would' be better overall on the electrical, less current draw while still remain powerful. I'd get two Dual 2's and run a good 2 ohm amp. Power also needs to be addressed on what enclosure you use...ported, you can use less power, sealed, more power.

I think I'm going to buy 2 12" kicker cvx122 with that hifonics amp. They have the same rms.

I always buy just a little bit more amp than the subs can handle. I hate an amp clipping because it can't make the power. I have no problem turning it down because the speakers can't take it (well, ok, LESS of a problem).

That being said, I've run MTX and Kicker Mono block amplifiers all with great results.

Well I used to do competition bass, I had 1 CVX 15 2ohm, with a kicker zx1500 which is rated 1500watts rms, turn the gain just above halfway and hit 167dbs in the porthole.

Btw if ur gettin cvx's just go with one 15 not 2 12's, cuz u ne throwin away money if u dont plan on powering the sub to almost maxed out, o and btw make sure if the woofer calls for a box that needs 5cubic ft of airspace or whatnot, u dont do any less than specified.

Follow those simple guidlines and u be bleedin da block in no time.

I don't mean to jack the thread but, I've got 2 alpine type r 1223 12's coming along with a vented fox acoustics box. I currently have a JL 500/1 mono. I ran 2 older style type r subs before with it with no problem but I had them hooked up professionally..... How should I hook these up without messing something up??? Lol

Droid Incredible 2 on the move!!!

Dual 12's will have more cone area, and given the same power, lets say for example the ZX1500.1 which is rated at 1500 at 2 ohm, but will do a tad more given good rail voltage, dual 2's would be louder. Box depends on vehicle and desired tuning of enclosure. You can tune low in a much smaller box.
I would look and run them more at RMS, running maxes, and ported is asking for trouble.

i have a sony xplod 2 channel amp maxing out at 1600, subs are kicker cvt shallow mount 10". they sound good, and they bump. but if you want a really good sounding system, make sure your box is sealed. glue the box together, nail it. them silicone the inside. wait about a hour, the you can add some feather in it to get it deeper.

but if you get a xplod amp, put the setting on low, not high or it doesn't sound right, no custom setting isn't bad, but it could do some improvement, in my point of view, low sounds the best, hands down

good luck with getting one
