I found the Bosch sliding design to be the smoothest.
With past experiences, I’m just not a Bosch fan

I've used the Dewalt compound miter saw for years now, have zero complaints. Just recently built a bottom to an aquarium stand. Bought the new Kreg kit that has made life fun again.

Which Kreg kit are you referring to? I have their pocket hole jig- and I am really eyeing up the router table to replace my home made one.

I run a Bosch #4412, 12" Dual Bevel Sliding Compound Miter saw. Wanted one for the longest time but couldn't justify the $700 price tag. Ended up finding one that was an Amazon damaged goods return at a Bargain Hunt store. The box was ripped and the styrofoam inside was a little busted. Other than that, absolutely nothing wrong with it. Brand new, still wrapped in the plastic. Absolute steal at $300. Very happy with it.ef46ed01e6c442fd27c90fed5db7c094.jpg

I've been planning to get a miter saw as well. I got my eyes set on the Dewalt miter saw and amazon has a special price. Hope to get one soon

I am a ryobi junkie, and I recently replaced a craftsman 10 inch non slider, with a ryobi 12 inch slider. I would never buy this ryobi a 2nd time. I love everything I have purchased from them, but the miter saw falls short.

Was at HF yesterday, and the Hercules line someone just posted looked impressive.

Good luck
I have an old ryobi mitre and it's been solid as well as all my old blue ryobi drills etc. Put the new lithium batteries on them and all work great, but the newer stuff has let me down with motor failures. My heavy use tools are all Milwaukee now.

I'm just an amature when it comes to woodworking
Back in 1967 - 1969, i worked in a Mill & i have forgotten even the simplest things.

I recently built a simple entertainment center & a narrow accent table.
When i was finished with them, i realised that i should have built a jig.
i just used a Circular saw, i remembered afterwards that i have a Mitre Saw tucked away in a storage room

A couple of years ago I got the 12" Dewalt sliding compound miter saw on a killer sale at Lowe's for $299, and then got my 10% VA discount on top of that. I am totally happy with it. It easily paid for itself cutting crown molding and baseboards. I expect it to last my lifetime as well as my son's lifetime.
