Guys,

Been going back and forth and searching for days but can't seem to get a solid answer. I have a 2016 1500 Big Horn 2WD. I am going to be putting a CST 4" lift on it and would like to run a 35x12.50-20 tire (Nitto Terra Grapplers).

I really like the XD797 Spy Wheels in the Black/Chrome combo, but I can't figure out for the life of me what offset to get. The guys at PerformanceLifts.com have been great, but they are saying that the -12 offset might stick out too far and can cause premature wear and tear on steering and wheel bearings.

The options are:
20x8.5 with +18 offset
20x9 with -12 offset

I'm going to eventually run some fender flares as well. Anyone out there got any pics of a -12 offset wheel from a view where you can see how much the tires stick out?

I realize the stock setup is a 20x8 with a +19 offset. The CST lift will extend me out 3/4" right off the bat.

Here is almost an exact setup of the wheel/tire/lift combo.. just wish I knew what damn offset it was:

The stock rims are 20x9 with +19 mm offset. In my opinion I would not run anything less than 0 offset unless you want to destroy your paint. I have 17x9 with +1 mm offset with 295s which are 12 inches wide. I also have factory fender flares and mud flaps. My truck has 15000 kms and both front and rear doors, rockers, and rear fender flares are covered in rock chips and small dents. I do see a few gravel roads. I would stick with +18 especially if the lift is widening the track. I know a lot of people on here that use -12 and even wider offset, their trucks must be coated in rock chips or they are just pavement queens.

Thanks bud, I appreciate it and you're right about destroying the paint. If my math is right, with the 4" lift pushing it out 3/4" and the difference between the stock rim offset and the aftermarket +18 offset.. would sit around an inch out further than stock (3/4" plus 7mm). With the increased tire size would put me around 3/4" on the inside and outside.. so with that being said, Am I correct in saying that with the +18 rim would be sitting about 1-3/4" out further than stock now with the rim and tire combo? Does that sound right?

Stock rim offset = +19mm

Aftermarket offset = +18mm

Difference = +1 mm or 0.0393 inches

Not sure where you came up with 7mm however 7mm equals 0.27559 inches or just over a 1/4".

Thanks. My bad.. forgot to mention the stock wheel (20x8) and the aftermarket will be 20x8.5. That's how I came up with the 7mm.

Anyway.. I am for sure over thinking the whole damn thing. Just want to put some nice wheels on it with a very mild lift without looking like a Tonka truck. I'm guessing the +18 is the best way to go to keep it safe. I can't find any wheels that I'm crazy about in the +0 to +12 offset range.

Seems like if you are getting a 3/4 inch push out from the lift sticking with the stock offset would be the equivalent of going from stock to a 0 offset without the lift, which is what I did. I do get a few rocks kicked up on my driveway but not too many.

Going with a +18 offset is basically the same as stock but you are already out the 3/4 inch from the lift. Going from a +19 to a -12 would push the tire out another ~1.25 inches so you would be almost 2 inches wider than stock.

+12 - +18 will work just fine on most truck. My 18x9's with a +18mm offset gives me just a bit over 1.5" sticking outside the wheelwell, hence the flares.

I have Fuel Octane wheels at a -12 offset with 37x12.5x20 Toyo RTs. I don't get any chips in the paint or have dents in the doors, but I do have the molded Ram mud flaps (tires stick out past the mud flaps). I like the stance of the truck and never had any issues with it.

Thanks for the pics and feedback guys. Just need to figure what I want to do.. have the wider stance or the close to stock stance. I really like how clean Maddogs truck looks with that +18 offset. That XD797 Spy wheel comes in either the +18 or the -12. I love the -12 deeper dish look and I bet a set of aftermarket fender flares would help a lot too wouldn't it whatTHEmilone?

I'd like to get some fender flares, but I already have the mud flaps. I took one off and there's an outline etched in the paint! I just put them back on haha. I guess it all depends on what your looking for in the stance. I see guys on here with -44 offset wheels! On a second note, I didn't get any rubbing with a -12 offset and 35x12.5x20 in tires (Nitto Trail Grapplers). Do you already have the tires?

Damn.. that sucks. No, trying to put everything together first before I commit to anything. Right now I'm looking at just a 4" lift, which is pretty much damn near leveling it. I'm looking at the same tire but trying to decide between the 35x12.50-20 or a 295/65-20? The guys at PerformanceLifts.com says that I won't get any rubbing or need any trimming at all with either size.

&^%$# I'm torn between the two stances... Lol.

Got any more pics of your whole truck in the photo?

+18 on a 2500/3500 and +18 on a 1500 are very different.

Thank you sir for pointing that out. If I'm not mistaken, the offset on a stock 20" wheel on the 2500 is +50?? Yea, that's a pretty big difference.

What are your thoughts about the -12 on the 1500? I need someone to push me over the ledge.. lol.

Anyone else with some -12 offset pics from the front or rear dead on view?

radius arm trucks are +57mm i believe.

i ran 18x9 -12 offset wheels on my last 1500. it wasn't bad. stuck out like 1.5", maybe a little more past the fender (295 tire). i would have preferred closer to a zero offset but the wheels i wanted weren't available like that. if i was in your position all over again, i would still pick the -12, or find different wheels in the offset you want. if you have or are considering flares in the future, -12 for sure....but thats just me.

Hope this helps! Maybe you should check out Toyo Tires. I've said on a previous thread that these Toyo RTs I have now are way better than the Nitto Trail Grapplers that used to be on the truck.

Thanks guys for the pics.. some sweet looking trucks. Find a 9.5" wheel with a -6 offset that I like (Mayhem Rampage).. might go with those. Now I'm tossing around the idea of staying on the 33's and just go wider.. remember I'm only 2WD. I would imagine going from a 20x8 with a +19 offset to a 22x9.5 with a -6 offset would cause any clearance issues on stock suspension would it? Something like a 305/45R22

35x12.5x18 BFG AT KO2s with 18x9 Addicts at -12 offset. They stick out about 2.5" from fender.
