I currently live in SW Florida. Had to go back up to Chicago last week. 2015 2wd 1500 5.7 8 Speed, 53k miles. Drove north, no issues. Drove around the first day there, no issues. Next day, jumped in and headed down the road. With in about 2 min I started to hear a noise. I'd say its a whine. Came to a stop sign and the noise whines down and goes away before the truck comes to a complete stop. In the beginning it would go away for a bit (sometimes the rest of the day) after I had made a complete stop. Sometimes it would come back a few minutes after I had made a complete stop and then continued on. Does not do it at idle. My first thought is trans or rear diff. Hard to figure out as it does not make the noise in park or idle. Had to drive back south yesterday. Can't hear it when cruising down the highway, too much noise, but as soon as I slow to an off ramp and the road noise tappers off you can hear it. The noise doesn't get louder the faster you go it just speeds up the whine if that makes sense. When you slow down to come to a stop it sounds like an electric motor winding down. At first it almost sounded like air being forced through a small hole. Does not effect the way the truck drives in any way.

Brought it to the dealer in IL before I left because I didn't need to end up on the side of the road 600 miles into the trip. Service advisor rode with me and heard the noise. He wanted a tech to go for a ride, tech got in and wouldn't you know it, no noise.

Took it to the dealer here in FL today, service advisor rode with me and heard the noise. Made an appointment to get it in but they don't have any appointments until Dec 4th. Thinking about putting the rear end up on jack stands, chock the front wheels and put it in gear. Try to hear if its trans area or rear end. Hoping its "drivetrain" because thats still under warranty. If not, hoping its rear end so it gives me an excuse to put 4.10's in her.

It not easy explaining noises but I am open to all suggestions and ideas. Thanks

Hi king99,
I understand why this would be concerning. Please feel free to send us a private message if you need any assistance while your truck is at the dealer.

Well finally got the truck in after waiting 3 weeks for an available appointment. Drive shaft carrier bearing is the culprit. Wouldnt ya know it, it's on back order with no eta. Awesome!

You're better off buying a new truck before getting any warranty work done at a dealership nowadays. (sad truth there as many others will comment)

Hell, I'd do my research on how to fix it, then do it myself.

I am surprised it would be covered under the powertrain warranty.

If it seizes up and throws your driveshaft off, what then?

With no eta on parts I would be inclined to fix it myself or park the truck until the parts come in.

I would not be willing to roll the dice on a driveshaft issue.
