Changing the grill inserts to honeycomb ones allows light through unobstructed. This is 2 7" pods behind a honeycomb grill, towhook flush mounts and oem bulbs

Here is same but with led lows and fogs

Do you have a pic in the daylight (with lights off)?

Damn you @S0CAL, now I want that grill. Your killing me lol

And I'm jealous of the fin cause if mine was in front I might be able to fit in garage. Mine is a 17 big horn with no sunroof

A few different shots
I've been thinking of replacing with black or pulling these apart and painting them so they aren't so obvious

I don't disagree it will fit, but how much light output will be lost going through that factory grill?

2017 RAM 1500 CC, LoneStar, Black Pearl

The location I suggested was based on his statement, but ya your right it will be obstructed some

I'm not really looking for a crap ton of light, I really bought it more for the fun effects, so behind the grill still lets me light it up and have fun

Sorry to hijack the thread a little

This is quite interesting. I know i keep pushing this off topic a bit, sorry OP, put it behind the grille. If anyone does know about the actual reason of the shark fin, I'd love to hear it. It's not in the back because of the sunroof, and the lonestar afaik is just a big horn but in texas?

I read in another thread that the shark fin is in front on trucks assembled in Mexico. I believe the Vin starts with a '3'. Shark fins in the back were assembled in Michigan and have a vin starting with a '1'.

Dean

Ok, guess that makes sense why only trucks built in Mexico have the fins in front. They also build the RCSB and HD's in Mexico. Since all the HD's fins are in front they use the same predrilled cabs for all trucks built there, therefore they are in front. Look at an R/T truck....the fin is in front too.

They put the HD fins in front so they can have a bed camper, dump truck bed, RV etc without obstructing or damaging the antenna

If you lay under it, there are 2 holes in the metal. I drilled thru the valence panel. I did use 3M tape to secure it. It won’t come off!

So you did drill through the bumper? Sorry, your explanation was a bit confusing.

There are holes in the chrome bumper. I drilled thru those and thru the painted bumper pad.

Never seen it done, but might be able to cut out part of the front plastic valance under the front bumper and mount it tight to the lower lip of the bumper.
