Where to find 1st Gen tailgate

Hello. This is my first time posting in a Dodge Ram forum. I recently bought my father-in-law’s 1987 Ram W150 farm truck. Still in great condition but I need a new tailgate. Where might I find an aftermarket tailgate and bumper?

Also, there is a high pitch noise when I start the motor coming from behind the dash. It almost sounds like a radio frequency but it’s not the radio. When the motor is turned off but the ignition half turned the sound is gone. Thoughts?

tailgate ... look at every building / garage'/ old shop/ pasture you pass. When you see an old dodge stop & ask.
.... A lot of alt. make a noise when 1st starting up. Some will run forever before quitting .

Well let me ask it another way. What years will work for you .
.. Surely it's not a one year only gate .
...I have a couple back in the 75ish era I believe.

Itsounds like a failed diode-trio in the Alternator that will backfeed through the radio. Does the sound change with the rpm of the engine?

It looks like the '87 Power RAM W150 LE I inherited from my dad, but with the colors swapped. I had removed the front bumper while waiting on the replacement. I don't know exactly why you need a new tailgate, but mine wasn't working until I replaced the two clips that hold the rods in the handle mechanism. Most auto parts stores carry it, but they only stock one package at a time. It's Dorman 75450. It's called a Door Lock Rod Clip, and doesn't say Dodge anywhere, but ignore that. It's a variety pack, so I just had to pick the one that would work for my truck.
