I'm looking to transport 1 or 2 bicycles in the bed of the truck (5'7" bed) and laying it flat is the last option but if I have 2 in there, I can't lay them both flat (they'll get damaged).

Which rack or mount are you using on your RAM 1500 Classic?
I don't want to remove the front wheel on the bikes either, so that type of mount is out of the question.

Thanks in advance!

I put two in my bed, I adjust handle bars sideways and take pedals off. Heavy moving blanket on bed floor, bike, another heavy moving blanket and second bike. No scratches yet.

But I also like the set up with the front wheels overhanging the bed with a heavy cover on tailgate. I think more secure and less rattling than an actual bike rack on a hitch

Good luck.

Are you also towing when wanting to transport your bikes?

For me, I don't have a TT and use a hitch mount bike rack and it's great.
I use one that the wheels sit in vs a frame clamp style hitch bike rack.
I dislike the amount of space a bike takes up laying in my bed.

If you're also towing when taking out your bike(s), look at a bike rack in it so, again you can keep them out of the way.

A buddy that has a TT mounted a hitch to his TT just so he could use a hitch mount bike rack.
