why does it take so long for the RPMs to drop after blipping the throttle?!

Hey guys, just joined! I just picked up my 2014 dodge ram express 1500 crew cab 2 weeks ago. Blacked out with rhino liner, hitch and chrome wheel upgrade.

I've built many cars and motors and have done my own tuning for EFI etc but for the life of me can't understand why dodge has the RPMS taking so long to drop after I blip the throttle. Normally I'F your in neutral and stab the throttle to 4k and release immediately the rpmS should drop immediately or quickly. However on my 5.7 Hemi the RPMS take much longer than I'm used to to drop back down to idle. Is it a factory thing?

Also in the process of HIDS in the bixenon headlights curtesy of retro shop canbus adapters. Going to partly plasti dip my chrome rims for a more custom look and got a muffler to throw on (alittle more growl! )

Love the truck! My dad has a 1987 dodge ram 8ft bed with a 3.9L V6 magnum and 5 speed kicking around!

Whoa BlackBetty bam ba lam...
Heavy flywheel?
Just a guess...

Also guessing to decrease engine braking because it will remove some pumping loss which might hurt efficiency.

To reduce tailpipe emissions, IIRC. I heard it on here so im sure someone else will post more details. Most modern vehicles do this actually.

Get a tuner and watch your TPS sensor. Youd be amazed how much the computer controls the throttle at any given time.

Seems that dropping the rpm slowly would increase gas consumption no?

I've heard about the issues with drive by wire. Do they have a TB that deletes the drive by wire?

ThanKS for the replys guys, good to be here.

Also looking at the exhaust.the muffler back looks pretty decent for OEM (mandrel bends) and I'm going with a Jones performance full boar muffler, 18" with dual 2 1/4 exits in the factory location. Ive used this brand on my 521 Big Block Ford in my 1987 firebird and love them. Comparable to MagnaFlow but flow better and cost 1/2 as much even same 409 SS. Are the manifolds and ypipe really that restrictive? I don't want to do much as its a lease for now. And I want to maximize my power increasea per dollarge and mpg if possible. I know pedal control is the main thing. Thinking of muffler, high flow filter replacement and perhaps a tuner down the road. Would consider headers and ypipe if I got a good deal on them but all my extra money goes into the firebird lol.

Compare the stock manifold on a 400hp motor to long tube headers and you tell me if they are restrictive :) Also, the y-pipe is terrible too although not a huge gain with factory manifolds (although it will show small gains just replacing the y-pipe).

Wow...talk about diversity....a ford motor in a pontiac body, and driving a dodge.......
