Will UAQ Uconnect 4c upgraded in 2016 work with the IOS App?

I ordered a UAQ upgrade for my 2016 from 4thgenmods that I'm waiting for delivery on. I was just curious, will I be able to use the phone app for remote start, etc. once that's installed or does that require other hardware or a newer truck?

I believe they will only activate the service on factory installed VINs.
