I just recently installed my winter rims.
I picked up a set of stock 20" aluminum rims off of a 2010 Ram 1500.
I paid $250 for all 4 rims, and $600 for set of 275/60/20 winter tires that were used less than 3 months, that's less than 1/2 of what she paid for them.
The tires that came on the rims were no good. Just deposed of them.
2 of the rims had minor gouges in them. The picture of the rim was the better of the 2 that were damaged. The damage was cosmetic, didn't effect the structure of the Rims. The other 2 rims were in excellent shape.
I filed down the gouges then filled them in using JB weld. Once dried I sand down the rims and prepared them for paint. I sanded and painted all 4 rims.
I used Black Rust-Oleum Appliance Epoxy paint. $8.00 a can from Home depot. 4-5 coats on each rim.
I've used this paint on rims before. Stands up to the elements quite nicely. As long as the rims are prepped properly.
I really like how the rims look on my Ram. Going for the blacked out no chrome look.
