I just purchased an 06 2500. The previous owner butchered the factory harness at three back and spliced in a 7 way, 2 6 ways and a 4 way, none of which work, and neither does the brake controller that he installed. Does anyone have any advice?

Trace the harness back towards the front to see if you can't find a weatherpack connector. Then get a new harness to replace it from that point back to the bumper. It may entail the entire harness for all the lights (tail, stop, reverse) plus the 7-pin/4way connectors.

The other option is to start testing each circuit, find a good spot to cut it all out and splice in new wiring back to the plugs.

I hate it when folks do that.
