definitely not required,but they are noticeable. my 2500 had d rated duratracs on it when i bought it.the salesman wouldn't swap them for different tires cuz they were new.i could tell the first time i drove it that they were not the right tires for an hd. it just didn't drive right.turns out one wouldn't stay balanced and they punctured if you looked at them wrong.good ******* riddance.
