WTB: 1500 rear axle w/3.92 gears

My buddy has a 2011 1500 with 3.92 gears. His pinion nut is loose and apparently has been for a while. Dealer suggested he rebuild the diff or replace the axle. I think it might just need a tightening but I have not seen it in person. He's going out of town for a couple of weeks and when he gets back, we're going to unbolt the flange at the rear diff/driveshaft and inspect. If the pinion nut just needs a little tweaking, he should be ok, but if its backed out a lot, I'm going to suggest he find a replacement axle. So I'm looking here to see if anyone has one so we could line that up.

Chances are pinion bearings are toast and gear oil will be full of metal!

If pinion nut came loose, a little tweaking isn’t going to fix it.

Rebuild or replace.

mine cuz I change gearing games going on it was a new dodge ring and pinon too ! soooo sucks dodge so can anyone tell could they have turn and striped it dealler ! 45,000 on new one I had done hope didn't wreck my truetrack in it ! why they didn't fix my problem first the do dang recall !

I know where there is a 2017 Ram Sport rear axle with 3.92 limited slip. Truck has under 10k miles on it. There asking $800 for it.

You can buy a ring and pinion and an install kit from Moe's Performance, a preferred vendor on this forum.

was so luck and no gear were fine dodge the nut was strip when testing change fluid and a deron nut sooo better all set now was a 200.00 cost oh well they did a lot of engine work fuel injector exhaust manifold trains relay ? think other exhausted now ticking oh well ! sure hope in a few months can drive to the red wood sucks dec to know 500 miles !
