No that's during the install process. Once it's done it's almost invisible and protects the paint finish.

Many of the PPF's now have self healing properties as well.

How does the line look where it stop in the hood? Said it did 12” up the hood. Curious how that line looks where it stops

The trick is to use the XPEL Sealant. It is clear in color and offers really good optical clarity. You do not want to use a colored wax on PPF or the seams will become very visible and you can stain the film. Alcohol on a Q Tip is recommended for removing any wax/sealant build up at the seams. The mirrors are two pieces of film.
