Any one else having issues snapping their output shaft? I have broke 3 at this point on a built transmission , borgwarner transfer case and rear have no play either. I do run -44offsets on 14” wides too to paint a proper picture of my set up on 2014 ram 1500. Also Zf8hp70 transmission hard parts are nearly impossible to come by I have called over 60 places for a no4 planetary/output shaft 23 spline new or used and Mopar doesn’t carry it! Any help is appreciated im new !

How much boost are you throwing at the engine, lol. Might be time to consider a Trackhawks 8HP95 and transfer case.Who's building the transmissions for you? You could try Sipples and see what they have,if you haven't reached out to them yet.

No Boost at all I’m max 450hp on my set up ! Very good shop I know them personally everyone is confused on the cause . It has sun coast steels, raysbestos gpz clutches, shift kit , upgraded pump, Deep aftermarket pan , suncoast converter. I also had the planetary no4 /output shaft cryogenic treated the last time to harden the steel more still failed and no one yet manufactured a billet one. I haven’t reached out to Sipples bec it’s one I haven’t heard of yet bet I’m calling 1 thing in am thanks for the info !

You could check with Charles Barret at Hellraiser to. Sipples has a hell'va rep in the high horse 8 speed arena,i haven't heard of anybody bad mouthing or breaking one of their 8 speeds.
Something must be up with the shop building your transmission,as i'm putting down 505rwhp and 572 lb-ft through a stock 8HP70 on my 4X4 and have never broke anything in the transmission, did burn one up several years ago, before anybody knew how to tune them, but it never broke an output shaft.

The one issue I’ve been running in to is all the high performance shops are building 2wd transmission and have minimal help on 4x . Also the output shaft is completely different 2wd 8hp70 . The only thing me and shop have come up with is I have 14wides so that’s 28” of rubber I’m turning and burning with nitro ridge grapplers tires. I hope I find a solution and the part I need lol

My truck pulls 1.55/1.60 60fts at the dragstrip on drag radials, and runs corrected mid 11's at the track, and has over 600 nitrous passes on it,so i highly doubt it's your tires causing issues. Is this your original transmission that's been rebuilt more then once by the same shop.

The trans was rebuilt about 5 mo ago and was stock it came in with a snapped out put shaft also originally then rebuilt with the parts I listed , in 5 mo it’s been back 4 of those mo now every time sheered off the splines outside the trans case so clean it almost looks like it’s been professionally cut off ! So now yes it’s going on 4 time being rebuilt same parts - new output shaft every time internals look as if brand new max mileage can’t be more than 1,200 miles on the internals . The shop has a good reputation for high performance builds and they have been eating all the labor and parts . But it’s evident something is causing this **** show . They are as tired of seeing it as I am having it their . My plan was to boost it eventually. Idk now

I’m not camed yet but have long tubes, 6.4 mani, and a tune with a v6 fan. What all is done to your truck? I have guys running 37s and FBO with no issues. My truck is lifted on 35s and I don’t baby my truck one bit. Looking at putting in a FRP scud plus high torque cam. Also what axle gear ratio do you have? Is your truck lifted? What is your tire size? Your rim is a 14 wide but what diameter?

I have a 2015 ram 1500 5.7L with a ZF8hp70 which has only about 30k on it as it was replaced about 8 to 10 months ago. Just recently my tail housing snapped off and I’m having a horrible time finding a replacement. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Chucky.. are all the shafts breaking at the same point? In front of the splines? That looks like it's the narrowest point on the shaft by my eye.

Strange..

Tail housing breakage is usually due to driveshaft issues,i'm betting you have a 2 wheel drive regular cab shortbox with 3.92 gears, they're famous for breaking the tailshaft, due to the crappy driveshaft design they use. You're best option is to probably find another used transmission, and just replace the whole transmission.
