Before I spend big bucks on new tires, I wanted to get opinions on the likelihood of selling the Firestone tires which came on my 2016 Ram 3500. They are size 275-70R18E, and have 500 miles on them. When I bought my 2016 Outback, I immediately bought Michelin tires, and now have ended up with 2 sets for it because no one wanted the old tires because of their crappy reputation. I would like to put Michelin Defenders on my Ram, but my wife would KILL ME if yet another set of tires clutter our garage. Thanks in advance for your opinions!

I would have bought them. I went about 30k before changing. I looked on Craigslist and didn't find any. you have to sell at a good price though.

There is a market for used tires, they just have to be priced reasonably. You can ask a little more if you are will to ship, but not new tire prices even if they only have 500 miles on them.

I was thinking of asking $300 for all 4. Thoughts? I went as low as $75 for my Subarus tires, and had no interest at all.

Discount tire? I'll have to look into that. I wanna off my stock power wagon tires so I can get 35's on it.

There are a Ton of "older gentlemen" that look for tires to buy for their stock trucks.

I also sold my last set of tires for $300 - with maybe 30% left on them. Took $300 off the cost of new tires.

But there are plenty of the 'older' crowd that all they do is look for stock wheels and tires. I had a guy tell me that you can buy a new set of wheels and tires for less than tires... and you throw them in the bed, go home, swap them and you're done. Then sell the old ones dirt cheap to get rid of them.

Yes, there is. Doesn't have to be just stock sizes. Unless your tires are completely shot you can sell them. Won't get rich off the deal but helps with the sting of the new ones. I replaced a set of Goodyear MTR 35s with 20k miles on them. New set of different tires was $2000. Craig's listed the MTRs and got 500 for the set. Not great, but 25% of the new ones. No reason to throw them out!

Just sold my stock 18" tires, $200.00 for all four....gone in a few days.
Tread was half worn with 30,000 km on them.

I've bought and sold several sets of tires and wheels over the years on Craigslist. You just have to be patient and re-post your ad, and have them priced reasonably. I'd say $300 is very reasonable for new tires.... even if they are stock crapper Firestone. You might call a couple dealers to see if they are interested since they often take in trades with bald tires and want a cheap way to put new ones on.
