In the past I've traded my trucks in after a few years. I'm looking to keep this one for a decade at least. Where are the lube points/grease fittings I should be hitting?

If you want to keep this for that long, buy a service manual, read it, know it, love it. It will be the best investment you can make!

Good idea. Any suggestions on where to get one? I used to have chiltons on my other, older vehicles.

Most stock front suspension parts are "sealed" and don't require any lub. The one exception I can think of is if you go to an aftermarket UCA which needs to be lubed. It is alleged that there is a lub point on the front drive shaft of the 4th Gen 4x4's. Some people have found it--most have not. No lub points on the U joints.

Looks like the 4th Gen are out in both Chilton's and Haines now.

Change the diff oils as soon as you can, especially if you tow at all. The factory filled oil is junk and until your first change will have initial break in particles in it. As for lube points, on the 1500's there's sweet nothing. Everything suspension/drivetrain wise is "lifetime sealed".

As mentioned, diff fluid. Change both diffs if 4wd. Amsoil or Redline are probably the best gear oils out there.

Transfer case fluid for the same reason as the diffs, get the break in metals out

If you have the 65rfe, change the trans fluid and filters after 20k or so

There's no grease points, haven't been for a number of years. On the 2500 and up the double cardan joint on the front driveshaft has a lube point that's tricky to see.
