I couldn't resist a last picture from under the car as I shook my head and walked away... I think I did the right thing. No regrets. Thanks to everybody here.

That does look bad. I've seen trucks 20 years old that didn't look that bad.

The gouge on the control arm is from the suspension bottoming out in a turn. Both of mine look like that with a level, only takes one time to do that, nothing to worry about.

You can sleep well knowing you made the right decision to return it. Wow, that's a lot of rust!

OK, your last pics made me walk outside in the damn 40 mph cold ass winds and take the two pics of what my truck looks like right now underneath. I bought my truck in May 2014 so it's been through two Buffalo, NY winters where my truck is a nice off white color (usually black) because of road salt. I drive over 300 miles a week to work and back.

Though not as bad as yours was.....

OMG!!!!....THERE'S RUST!!!!!!!!!!....I better sell this ************* asap!...lol. Do you think that maybe someone in Florida will buy it????

Sir John: Your truck doesn't look as bad, to be fair. But, in all honesty, he lives in Florida and has absolutely no reason to deal with rust, as I said earlier. You folks up there are used to that stuff and live with it, in Florida a 2013 with 37,000 whose underside looks like that would be considered a bonafide rust bucket.

Yeah, I know it's not that bad. Every truck I've ever owned (and cars) all get the rust you see in my pics. My car and trucks are LOOOONNNGGGG gone before that rust even remotely becomes an issue. It will take well over 10 yrs. I've never owned a car or truck longer than 6 yrs...I get bored with the same one too quickly. I'm already looking at a 2500 Laramie!....lol.

Lol....definitely getting the limited slip next time. I'm getting by without it just fine, but would be better off with it. With this Ram it was a "beggars couldn't be choosers" situation.

It's really just the differential and driveshafts that have rust. The frame and almost everything else under the truck is pretty much rust free.

Yeah... difference is that your underside is black with some rust. Mine was rust with the black consisting of undercoat over rust... if you looked around you could see overspray... I have no regrets...
