I couldn't resist a last picture from under the car as I shook my head and walked away... I think I did the right thing. No regrets. Thanks to everybody here.

I walked away from a sale on the truck I was considering before my current because of exactly this. Of all the trucks I shopped that year it was the absolute worst by a long shot which tells me it was treated with neglect since the minute it left the assembly line. The sad part is that it looked as bad as the one you returned but was probably 2 years older which tells me the one you returned must have been even more neglected. Good call, and good for you on being a smart truck buyer and paying attention to the underside which I bet a lot of average buyers don't think to do. Especially the beds. That's usually the first place to look for warning signs of rust on a pickup

Yeah, I know it's not that bad. Every truck I've ever owned (and cars) all get the rust you see in my pics. My car and trucks are LOOOONNNGGGG gone before that rust even remotely becomes an issue. It will take well over 10 yrs. I've never owned a car or truck longer than 6 yrs...I get bored with the same one too quickly. I'm already looking at a 2500 Laramie!....lol.

6 years, 6 years, my wife would love to be married to a fella such as yourself (kidding I think lol). An example of my vehicle dumping history
1990 Mustang GT 3 years 13000 miles **** gone
1999 Mustang GT 1 year maybe 5000 miles **** gone
2005 Mustang GT 3 years and 5000 miles **** gone
2009 Shelby GT500 3 years and 2400 miles **** gone
2012 SRT8 Challenger 2 years and high miles @ 7200 miles **** gone
2010 RAM Hemi 4x4 rcsb 2 1/2 years 18000 miles **** gone
2014 RAM Hemi 4x4 rcsb 1 1/4 years 12000 miles **** gone

I have a list a mile long of daily drivers that have gone **** but I will admit most saw 3 years of duty. I am thinking that not one of the dailies saw more than 20,000 miles before yup **** gone

It's getting late here 1:33 am otherwise I would give you the list of all the cars that replaced the above list and there was a long list of vehicles before 2005 ie going back to 1982 and my first car, 1982 Grand Prix Lj t-topper.:favorites13: and Merry Christmas.

my wife just wishes I was like that, I am insisting that she picks up a new vehicle no later than next summer as her current ride has 60,000 miles and will be 5 years old. I have to admit there's nothing wrong with the car and 95%+ of the 60,000 miles are highway (so very easy miles) but the power train warranty will expire. She has fought me for the last 2 years as I have wanted to pick up a new vehicle for her. I remember when we first married 26 years ago and i wanted a new vehicle it was no, no, no, no and after several weeks of having me asking/pleading I would wear her down and it was kind of like FINE get the damn new vehicle. When doing the paperwork etc she would just glare at the sales man like it was his fault I was picking up a new vehicle. Tehehehehe.

Now it kind of goes like this, she comes home from work and sees that yes my idiot husband has a new ride. Hell she did not even know what kind of vehicle I purchased on her behalf 4 1/2 years ago but damn she loves what I picked for her. I could not believe it when she stated that a rcsb Hemi 4x4 was way to big so i went really small and hence the love for her current car.:favorites13:

Btw...thanks for this post. I'm going to save it for the next time my wife gets all whiney about me wanting to get a new truck. I can show her how bad it could be! :)
