i have yet to drive any of them. Just going by what i read online. I agree about the tahoe and yukon really being the only choice in this category. I would never consider an armada or sequoia, or older expeditions. the new one is nice but way too pricey. Anything 18 or newer is crazy money. Any common issues with those 6.2L in your denali? i have not come across anything. I plan to go with a blackbear tune to get rid of the afm and get better performance. i dont need a racecar, but no arguing what a tune does to them (or any vehicle really). I would rather pay a little more in gas mileage and insurance for a more reliable engine. Risk/reward with buying used. One thing is for sure, like the hemis, there sure are a lot of tahoe/yukons on the road. Plus the same motors in many many trucks. Like the hemi, its all on its past maintenance / abuse. Thanks for your insight.
The earlier non AFM 6.2's(2013 and older) are as bulletproof as any other earlier LS engines with little to no problems. The kicker on the 6.2 is the need to run 91 octane gas at a minimum. Premium is still relatively inexpensive now($2.90 average here)but with the volatility of gas prices over the last 15 years it could easily skyrocket to $5 a gallon with a regime change in Washington. Good luck finding a low mileage 5.3 Tahoe,Yukon, etc in the 2007-2014 body style where the damage may already have started just waiting to bite you in the ass unfortunately. I believe the lifter problem has been solved in the newest gen 5.3 engines but all the other problems make the 2015 and newer GM offerings not worth the risk considering they're going on 5 model years with this design and haven't come up with a solution yet. Also the 2015 and newer offerings definitely ride a hell of a lot worse than the 2007-14 models. Think Cadillac(old body style) to Smiley's old farm truck(new body style). I have drove both and there is a very noticeable difference in the two. The Expedition rides a lot better and gets pretty decent gas mileage and has a lot more power with the 3.5 ECO but that's a story for another day.

I read this the other day. The one thing that stood out for me is, FCA is doing everything it can to keep this quite". I still believe this is the reason for lower the mileage on the drivetrain warranty from 100000 miles to ,60000 miles.

I actually don’t think that is why completely. They could lower it because competitively they are selling trucks without keeping it at 100k. They also would want to lower for the exhaust manifold bolts and manifold issues. Between this issue and the manifold issue I am sure they would be in pretty deep on each one that failed. I am sure they did save millions by moving the warranty and if we still buy them why not from their perspective.

I am bad and don’t run premium. I usually run 89. I never ran 87-88 much due to be used to running 89 in the Ram. It does pretty well on 89. The 6.2 likes to destroy motor mount in the drivers side so I am swapping mine for the H3 unit that is a popular mod.

I can’t even recall ride now as I test drove last summer but mine rides pretty nice for being a 2008 and just under 167,000 miles.

could it be they have no confidence in all of the new tech they put in the truck? In rams defense, they do sell trucks cheaper by a lot then the other two. I can't believe other companies haven't went after the truck market with all they have. In this town everyone drives trucks, all the dealers have like 50 trucks and like one of each car, they only other thing that sells good is suv's.

Yes you are BAD! Hell I must be bad too because with the recent uptick in gas prices I haven't put anything but 87 in my RAM in several months with no adverse effects. I'm actually surprised that your 6.2 is tolerating it as every single GM V-8 I've owned in the last GOD knows how many years(especially the 4.8 and 5.3) have all been finicky about cheap gas and they all spark knocked on 87 with the stock 200 degree thermostat. The RAM must have better knock sensors. That body style you have has the best ride of the bunch. I rode in a 2017/18 Suburban on a 600 mile round trip in November 2017 and was not impressed. Even with coils in the back it rode the same as the leaf sprung trucks did to me which was extremely stiff. It did get fantastic mileage though with the DI 5.3 though. We averaged over 20 MPG for the trip and that was driving mostly 85-90 MPH believe it or not. You should have no problem getting 300-350K plus miles with little no problems out of the motor.

Bout to stock up on oil filters and gotta order my second batch of Redline from Nick soon...

In terms of filters I’ve used the Royal Purple 10-48 from my first oil change on, is there any benefit to using the 20-820, I know it’s bigger but in this instance does bigger provide any additional benefit? I’ve got a 2016 rebel with the 5.7

Thanks in advance.

More media=

Less resistance to flow, that also mean less chance of your bypass opening

More partial capturing ability, that technically equals longer filter life over the smaller 10-48 when used in the same application.

^^^The only thing I can think of - would be a bit more surface area for filtering.

How much more? Do not know - need to cut them both open & stretch out the media (side by side).

Now: The inlet holes might be the same - don't know.
That might be the other difference.
The amount of holes & size.

I posted this in the oil filter thread yesterday:

For the First time I seen the Champion oil filter in stores. PepBoys had an entire wall of them. Check out the 12 (yes 12) inlet holes on this oil filter. This one is the smaller oil filter for the 6.4 and 5.7 Hemi. Internally it has the cheese grader center tube and the plunger style bypass valve. Base plate is the good one piece design. Paid $7.94 out the door. This looks promising!

Happy Cinco De Mayo.

Now, go eat some tacos ya animals.....

I live on tacos, every day never get tired of them. But if you want something different find a local mexican food place that does cactus, we have one here that does a cactus/steak plate, man it is incredible. If you find a place that knows their cactus, it can taste better then the steak, as in this place. The steak they serve is just a skirt steak, nothing special. But the cactus is done right. Below isn't the one this place serves, but it is a similar shape, they just have their own sauce they put on it, man literally tastes better then the steak that comes with it. Happy 5th for those who celebrate it, like me.

Does look like a nice filter !

but just as a note I remember reading the sheet on it and I thought it said synthetic blend media.

So paper and synthetic fiber

Here is the comparison between 10-48 (left) and 20-820 (right)

View attachment 165152
Yep this is why I use the 20-820 more inlet holes & should be more [emoji817]% synthetic media .

I'd still use the 10-48 if I couldn't get the 20-820 though [emoji106]
