Just got a phone call. They said it's all software related. He said I was popping a fuel injector fuse. He said they'd get it to run and then it'd pop the fuse. He wants 180 bucks for three updates, but everything else is covered under warranty. He says I need an oil change too, but........probably some of that salesman stuff. Prolly let him do it just to throw a little change at him for not denying warranty coverage. He said he'd get me back on the road tomorrow. They have another test they want to run. I'll keep ya guys posted

New update. So this dealer is ******** I think. I told him about a jump start I did 1k miles ago. He calls and asks if I have jump started someone lately and I of course said yes. He said well it must have arched back. Lucky it didn't take out the pcm. So I pay him and his monkeys 184 plus install for a battery. They did a pcm, rfh, and some other update. Then Told me my recon third brake light is out. Charged me 68 dollars for a light. I don't know what he did, or how he fixed it, but do people really pay 68 dollars for a monkey to put a bulb in? The truck broke down again on the way home. Blew another fuse. He was telling me that software update was needed to keep from blowing the fuse. Then it was the battery. Well I swapped a fuse from another spot and I wanted to see if I could time it till it blew. As soon as the key was inserted into the ignition, it blew. I have an aftermarket remote start and those monkeys used the tap a line connectors and I think they were close enough, they may have arched. So. It got towed back. We'll see what he says tomorrow

Hi deangtp,

Sorry to hear about your concerns with your vehicle! If you haven't had a customer care case opened to document your concerns and for further assistance I'd be happy to start that process for you. Just PM our page with your VIN and let me know.

Well. I picked the truck up again today. They found a wire that had wore through on the driver cylinder head I think it was. He said he'd pick up the tow bill and the deductible for me. That was semi fair I guess.

So then does that mean all that other work they did and what you paid was not necessary had they diagnosed the wire in the first place? If so, seems unfair you had to pay them to work on their own misdiagnosis.

Lets all pitch in on S and T signs and go around the dealerships and swap out the D's in the middle of the night. We can sell the D's and get half our money back anyway. The ego would feel real good and the laugh would be great!!!

All the initial work was unnecessary. What makes me the craziest, is it took them a week to come up with extortionist reasons why I need xyz. The truck broke down on the way home from the shop. They found and repaired the broken wire which required intake removal and did the broken exhaust manifold bolts…all by noon today. They didn't mention any of the mods I have done so…idk man. 6 of one half a dozen of the other? Lucky and disappointed. But the important part of it all was it got fixed and it's information if someone else has an issue.

When I say lucky , I'm referring to you being lucky to have a dealer that actually fixes your vehicle quickly , doesn't hammer you on your mods / tuner and gets you in & out in a timely manner. .....Lots of folks would be realy happy if there dealer was a good as yours Sir , and you refer to them as " ********"

Consider yourself lucky ....

Yeah I did call them ********. They offered me an excuse for a blown fuse because of a software update. Then said my battery was deader than a doorbell. They replaced those, charged me 500 dollars and let me drive away. The truck broke down 5 miles away.

They then found the issue in a couple hours, probably because they felt guilty for doing all the unnecessary work and sending me on my way.

They had the truck for a week

Lucky and disappointed

How would you feel?

Now, almost six months later, has the truck been running OK? From what I see in the others' posts, you are fortunate they didn't hammer you on the mods. Some dealers will, and some don not... it all depends. When aftermarket remote starter was mention, I admit I cringed a bit, having seen a wire harness from a dealer a few years ago. It came from a Pontiac that had an aftermarket remote starter installed elsewhere; the wires were toasted like charcoal. Fortunately the car did not catch on fire.

As for the Battery Saver Mode, my 2017 2500 displayed that message late last week. I had not driven the truck in more than a week and the temperatures had been near 0° F for a couple of days. The truck (which was not plugged in to warm it up) started OK, and I drove it twenty miles, then took a chance and shut it off. On restart, everything worked great and still does. Not sure if I have to ward off any evil spirits...

Six months later it's still running great. Wish I could have saved that 400 bucks though. My computer is broke, so I can't even get started with getting the tune back. But it runs.

Most dealerships are just UNEDUCATED on absolute basic mods .... mainly because 90% of the time they only see OEM products because that's what they are trained to fix / repair AND trouble shoot ...unless the planets alingn ....and you get a technician that is an OEM mod guy at heart and familiar and or confident in your mode .... IT IS A ROLL OF THE DICE FOR YOU
