4.7 Ram won't go into gear

The gear selector moves freely and will go into every gear but doesn't engage any gear. Checked the fluid and the level and color are fine. Had no symptoms of slippage or any problems prior to this.

There could be a lot of things going on here. Did you try and see if you have any DTC?

Could be the TCM (can't recall if the 2004 still have a separate TCM or if it is part of the PCM).

Could also be the Valve body since it is fully electronic and is known to fail on the 45/545rfe.

Let us know what you find.
