Well I got the weird antifreeze smell now. Coolant level is right above the low marker. I remember reading threads saying faulty radiator hoses or water pump. Have 8800 miles. Been working it pretty hard here lately at work (cummins work Truck tranny finally died) . Pulling the box trailer city miles only the last few weeks.

Weird. I have noticed a whiff of it once in a while too. And I have all this crystalized white **** on the hood insulation and I am trying to figure out if that's from water or....?

My 2015 has smelled like coolant every time it's warmed up since I bought it. I have 29,500 miles on it now. My 2011 1500 Hemi was the same way. Never had any issues with that one, and I traded that in 87,000 on it.

I am curious as to why it always has that smell though.

So strange. I've had my 14 2500 with 6.4 for almost 2 years now. Never had any antifreeze smell.

At work we have F250s and it's the exact same thing. One will smell of the antifreeze and the next one doesn't.

Nothing is ever found to be wrong with the one that has the smell, and it's been in a few times to check what it is. It's a mystery for sure!

"crystalized white ****" is from the fire proofing in hood liner when it gets wet and drips on engine bay. I took mine off.

Have you pressure tested the system yet? That will expose any leaks pretty quickly.

I get the smell on my 6.4 as well. I've never thought too much about it or noticed any patterns of it being more or less strong. The beauty of the warranty for me is not worrying about smells, creaks and groans.

No. I'm just gonna keep tabs on coolant level and let the dealer check it on my next oil change. I always watch my gauges and temp is always the same. Not too concerned about it but imo shouldn't be an issue with a new truck. Especially with so many others having it. My hands free doesn't work neither so I may let them keep it a few, days to fix that and check this new problem out. My problem is needing it for work everyday.

I got the white stuff on my hood too. I know it wasn't there a month or two ago when I was checking fluids, but I did notice it the other day refilling my wiper reservoir.

I am fairly certain that white stuff on the hood is from washer fluid leak, at least that is what some report...the line under the insulation leaks.
I think it is from the salt in the winter myself.

Same here....I know there have been quite a few people that have reported the same in the last year or so.
My coolant level has not moved, I cannot cannot find any indication that antifreeze is leaking anywhere, so I assume it is simply coming from a vent or the overflow

I don't think the white stuff is from Salt. My truck has never seen winter or salty roads. I haven't even ran the heat yet lol.

It is just a bad batch of hood blankets. Seems to have been isolated to 2015 2500/3500 HD models made in Mexico.

Pretty long thread here full of speculation and eventual false assumptions it was water intrusion, leaking washer nozzles or other. \

Warranty replacement in all cases fixed the issue.

So your saying the hood liner is the cause of the antifreeze smell?

Haven't smelled it in a couple days. It's weird it just comes and goes.

Mine is a '14, had it back to the dealer several times. They pressure checked it and the works. Finally had it a week sent an alert into Chrysler and they told them to change all hoses. Only thing is they didn't have them and didn't know when they could get them. 11 weeks later I got a call they were in. No more antifreeze smell.

Been smelling it again. I know I'm leaking some now. I'm a little under the minimum mark on the reservoir when cold. Before I was right even with it.

Added 32 ounces of purified water tonight. Guess I'll be seeing the dealer as soon as I can get a day or two between jobs. Need to also get my hands free radio working again and let them see if my rear end is whining louder than it should.
