I'm putting some new BFG KO2 - 285/65R20 on my truck next week, and im curious what everyone runs their KO2's at? I've read anywhere from 40-80psi.

I should add that i'm mostly wondering for on road/highway use.

thanks

Ran them right at 40 psi on my 1500

I looked up a Load Inflation Table to determine what pressure was needed.

Stock Goodyear’s are only rated for 2,365 lbs max. When a P-metric tire is installed on a light truck ( SUV, pickup, or minivan) the load capacity of the tire is reduced by a factor of 1.10 as prescribed by the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards.

Stock Goodyear is 2601 lbs @ 44 psi so 2601/1.10 = 2,365.

Now having this info I looked up the 285/65/20 in the load Inflation Table and found that the 285/65/20 @ 40 psi is rated for 2390 which is sufficient as it slightly exceeds the stock tire maximum capacity.

If you really want split hairs, the 285/65/20 is rated for 2,369 lbs @ 39.5 psi.

Here is a link to a Load Inflation Table. I have a printed copy, good to have handy: https://toyo-arhxo0vh6d1oh9i0c.stac...ication_of_load_inflation_tables_20170203.pdf

Really what evet it takes to get a good wear pattern on them, do the chalk test and see what works best for you and your truck

Then just adjust for added weight.

Okay so my next question, on the table the far right of the table, under 80psi it shows 3860lbs E rated 127

I know the ko2's I have are E load range. I guess that's where my confusion really is

Not all E range are equal which I didn’t fully get either until I read thru the load Inflation Table. The letter range (C, D, or E for example) indicate the sidewall ply with E being a 10-ply..........but the load index (the 3 digit number) really tells the tires capacity. Then sprinkle in different air pressure ratings.......there is a lot to really know and understand. My 35’s are E rated 3195 @ 65 psi, the 285/65/20 BFG’s are E rated 3860 @ 80 psi so an E range tire ain’t nessisarly the same as another. I haven’t even touched on speed rating yet!

A mod should really sticky the Load Inflation Table, it is a great resource!
