Buying tires online

I was thinking about doing this since im on a budget, has anyone had any experience with this?

I have in the past. Got a set of Nitto Terra Grapplers pretty cheap compared to local. But the local shops will get ya on mount and balance a lot of times since they didnt sell the tires. At least call around and check prices for the mounting before ordering.

I bought mine from e-bay. The store was discount tires still. I had an ebay coupon and did not have to pay tax or shipping. Still had our local discount tires mount and balance but would have had to pay if I bought there anyways. I would keep an eye out for ebay specials or local store specials (sometimes the local stores will have specials that do not show in ebay)

Discount Tire price matched the KO2's and Walker Evans wheels I have on my truck.

Tire Rack has affiliated installation shops all over the country so check them out as well.

Thanks for the info, i looked around for a few hours and yeah after buying them online, i will get charged $35 per tire for mounting and install, so i guess go with the place for the install and leveling for the truck.

I use the online prices to give me an idea of the prices before I go to local dealers and see if they will price match. I've found that the online prices added to the mounting and balance prices are usually a little more than just buying local in the first place.

This is a pretty accurate truth right here. I got a local custom truck guy that will mount and balance for 100 cash with the inside wheel weights and everything. Though I might let Big O do it, my neighbor just had them do his and he paid like an extra 250 I think, for lifetime warranty on the tires I do believe. I would have to get the details from him about it, which I will be doing soon as my tires are in TX, wheels in AR and bils somewhere between here and Illinois lol

One other thing to be aware of. Blems or seconds. I too use the on line company's like Tire rack and others for pricing. My neighbor ordered a set on line and they came with side wall ripples. That is a blem. He was able to send back and did get his money back. Hassle. In my market I have found my tire dealer is always price competitive with the big on line sellers.

In the past, I have purchased wheels and tires from tire rack and discount tire. Actually those are the only places I have ever bought tires for my vehicles. I never had any problems out of either place.

The only reason I stopped using them is that I get a tire allotment from my employer now.

I just picked up 4 tires for my HHR through Wal Mart web site.They were shipped FREE from Simple tire so another choice.

Have had good luck with simple tire and tires easy. Simple Tire has 10% off right now with promo code 4JULY10. I get them mounted and balanced local for $100. Have had local companies tell me they can't compete with the online guys...

When I had my 88 5.0 Mustang I wanted to upgrade from the stock 15" wheels to the 93 16" style wheels and bought the wheels mounted to the tires I wanted from Tire Rack and had them shipped to the garage I use. They balanced them and installed them. Worry free transaction.

I bought Mickey Thompson ATZ P3 from 4wheel parts online along with wheels and I only paid I think $40 total for mount and balance. I did bring my own TPMS for them though. And I mounted the wheels at home
