Ok so I have an 08 1500 qc 4x4 and put a 6 inch suspension lift on it about 2 months ago. I looked at the driver's side fender well today and noticed grease. When I looked at the cv axle the boot was broken. I no lifts can be hard on cv axle but that seems a little soon. Any one else have this problem or know why it happened so fast?

How many miles are on the truck? Could be a combo of the lift and the existing miles

54k is very early to have CV issues.

Do you take it out through the mud and sticks frequently, or is it more of a pavement princess? Raggin on a truck out in the woods is WAY harder on the CV Boots than mall parking lots.

It hasn't made it off the pavement yet the only other issues iv had is a little death wobble and im not sure if that would cause the cv issue or not.

It certainly wouldn't HELP the CV boot's life.

Post up a picture showing the angle of the CV shaft.

It may not be the case but is it possible that the boot may have been pinched or damaged when the lift was installed? Just throwing that out there. I've seen it happen a few times.

it probably just had the boot pinched during lift installation.

As for the steering rack, that's just it living up to the expectations of a 3rd gen rack. If it's leaking out the bottom of the sector housing like that, its usally leaking internally. Racks are common issues with these trucks.

Mine is leaking too and a lot more than yours. Yikes!

It doesn't look too hard to change out. Disconnect some fluid lines, remove the steering shaft and unbolt from the cross member.

this happened to my dads truck 3 weeks after he had the lift, he has 4 inch bds lift on his 2012 1500. the guys that put on the lift said they may have caused it due to over tightening and such. dodge fixed it for free

Found out my brake caliber was sticking and causing the wobble so I pulled the bolts out greased them and bled the brakes. So far so good but time will tell

Racks are easy on these. I work at a Toyota dealership and watched one of my techs remove one in 20 minutes the other day. There is tons of room under there.

i got lifted at 60000 6 inch zone. a month later i noticed the front cvs were seepin oil from the pumpkin. pissed off, but its prolly always been like that i just never noticed at stock height replaced cvs. opened it up and it was the shaft inside not the cvs. so i got new ones in now but its def an expensive i wasnt ready to pay for.
