Cruise control issue 2014 Ram 1500

For the first time my cruise control would not come on. No matter what I did it didn`t work until I turned the knob for the headlights from auto to on. Then for some reason the cruise started working again. Maybe it was a coincidence but it has worked fine since. I tried switching it back to auto to try to see if it would repeat but no luck and the cruise still works fine. Is there any common issues with the cruise control on this truck?

After searching online the cruise control appears to be a issue on this truck. Some had the switch replaced, others had the module replaced and some the harness to the switch. I guess I will have to wait until it does it again and then have it checked out.

Yeah mine acts up every now and then. Sometimes I will go a month or two without any problems. Usually just push the button hard a couple times and it comes on.

I know they had some troubles with the switch and some people had to have them replaced.

I`m assuming the air bag has to come out to get to the switch.

Ok , I posted that a key turn trick seemed to have worked but I deleted the post. It didn`t continue to work. So I searched online and someone said they pulled the cruise fuse and reinstalled. I tried it and the cruise started to work again. Maybe a coincidence don`t know, I will post if if continues to work. I have to take it to the dealer for a recall so i will see what they say.

That only worked for a day and now it is off again. When I drove it today and i smacked the steering wheel behind the button switch and it has been on ever since. I`m thinking it needs a new button switch

Mine acted up a few times until I smacked it hard 3 or 4 times. No issues since. Wifes Grand Caravan switches started acting up over the weekend. Smacked them hard a few times and now they work fine.

have a 2014 1500 big horn Cruise control works when it wants to. Had it to dealer 3 times, they still don't have a clue. They did replace the switch and it still does the same thing. FRUSTRATING!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Happens to mine too. Sometimes it just will not turn on, but then a couple minutes later it will turn on fine.

Before this started happening, I brought my truck to the dealer for an unrelated issue. They said there was a recall issue for the cruise control that they went ahead and fixed without me asking.

A couple months later is when this issue started happening.

This dealer has screwed me on something else so I'm wondering if they even fixed this issue or if the replacement part is also prone to malfunctioning.

To update my cruise control issue ,after 4 trips to the dealer, they found a stranded wire was connected by only 2 strands on a post in the steering wheel. Since getting it back a week ago, it has worked every time.
