I have a 2004 ram 1500 that has a 3.7l v6. I was thinking about putting some money back and finding a donor truck to pull the 4.7l engine and drop it in mine. I know it wont be as simple as dropping it in but im just testing the waters to see how much it will take. Like will I be able to keep my 5 speed tranny and such.

The tranny is not the biggest issue.

It's the whole harness and other surrounding components that you will need.

If I were in your shoes (which I am not...) I would not look at swapping for a 4.7L but I would rather look at a 5.7L.

Better reliability, better engine, more aftermarket mods available and surprisingly better MPG's.

Since you plan on having a donor truck you are looking at doing this the right way and you should be fine. Don't let go fo the donor until you are done... Just saying...
