Installing OEM backup cam

Got the XAC Flashed @ the dealer today took less than 15 mins from the time I walked in the door and drove away !

I was stoked about having the back up camera , I didn't notice I had no lines , I believe the lines derive from the purple wire spliced into the Orange / Dark BLUE wire from cavity 45 in C5 on the BCM ?

@ Mpgrimm2 thanks for your help sir with the post ! I actually did reference your post 90 &26 BIG HELP ! I posted the radio plug thing only to mention it again in the thread so people would be less likely to have an issue there .

I believe it was a post of yours as well on the back up lines being derived from the BCM spliced in wire . A question for you sir : do all the the radios have the lines ? I have the RA2 , I did splice the orange / dark Blue wire @ cavity 45 on the BCMs C5 connector with the purple wire from the OEM Kit harness . If all the radios have the lines feature, the I need to revisit my spice and maybe verify the body harness plug I populated ...

Pretty sure the warning lines are generated by the camera and not a wire hook up. At least prior to 2013 they were, some people installed kits with safety lines some didn't, older kits, all the same wire hookups.

Several aftermarket cameras will generate a fixed grid, but if you want the lines to follow the steering wheel, you will need the factory camera and the Lin Bus CBC 3 signal.

To my knowledge , that's exactly what I have ? Isn't the line bus CBC 3 signal coming from my spliced Orange /Dark Blue wire @ socket 45 in the C5 connector @ the BCM ?

I have the OEM Tailgate backup camera kit p/n 82214240-001
With camera p/n 56038978AH

Should I have the grid lines ? If so maybe I need to check my install of the spliced wire @ C5

Sorry for the confusion. Yes, using the official kit you got, you should have grid lines and they should turn with the steering wheel.
If you have camera video and no grid lines whatsoever, you either have a bad connection at the pin 45 splice, a bad oem camera, or a bad wire from the camera to the bcm pin 45 splice. Hopefully you are certain you are on the correct wire at the bcm.
( and have the pins correct at the new camera harness connector where the cable comes through the firewall boot).

Thank you sir , you've just confirmed what I thought .
Tomorrow I'll be verifying the BCM wire and my populating of the empty connector supplied with the OEM camera kit inside the firewall . I am very certin of both now ; however, before I go buying a new camera I've gotta check .

Hopefully you don't have to buy a new camera vs. contacting where you bought the kit from to have them send a replacement camera for free. It should be under warranty after all.

My thoughts exactly , I got the kit from my local dealer , so this should not be a problem , I was told the kit falls under my vehicle warranty when they flashed it in ! Unless they try to pull ( but we didn't install it ) on me ...
That shouldn't mater for an effected part right out of the box though.

My understanding is that you should still have the lines even if the clockwork spring is mis-oriented, i.e. the lines won't be straight and the abs brakes system is reported to be noticeably out of whack while driving because it thinks you are turning when you are straight etc.

help! ram oem camera install

Hi. Hi Iam new here. I installed the camera kit the oem one from Mopar. I had the truck flashed before the install and had the blue screen, which is good.

We did everything according to instructions, an after we finished we had the blue screen! Everything was done exactly as outlined. Now, I drove around for a week with the blue screen, then one day I tried to reverse and instead of the blue screen I had a blurry screen and I could see the grid lines!( which means I wired the purple wire right again it was very blurry kind of like a mosaic black and white type of blurry.

What does this mean?? It only does this rarely and then most other times its the blue screen? Please help! That my ground in the picture

I have ram sport 2013 with the nav 8.4 radio

Thanks !, I've confirmed the C5 connector cavity 45 and my populating of the supplied connector with the kit with the body harness wires , I'm now establishing a solder joint @ the purple wire with the body harness to the orange and dark blue wire @ cavity 45 on C5 connector @ the BCM as a posed to the T splice . just to ensure a proper & good continuity of connection. .. if this doesn't work ,I'll have to assume 1 of 2 things #1 camera is @ fault or the supplied kit harness for the radio is improperly pinned ...

Also the cruise control likely would not work , due to it thinking your turning sharply all the time ... I have none of these problems ;however, I still don't have the grid lines ? ? ?
