That's why I lease with the expectation to buy at the end. I just got a new lease but had I not I could have put money down to buy and when all was said and done I would have paid for the truck for 7 years but I would not have been able to put enough cash down in 2015 to get the truck I got at the payment I wanted..... At the rate I'm going when my 2017 lease is up I will be able to buy it for cash when it's up.

Good price on that super duty if it's 4x4. I'd buy it for that.

84 months at 0%... lol the lender is getting their ass kicked with that. I'm not a fan of long terms, but at 0%... why wouldn't you?

Exactly my thought. Better to use the lenders money to finance than mine, lol.

The advantage at 0% is also that because there's no finance charges, if I decide to trade it in 5 years, my trade in value goes up because I haven't had to pay thousands in finance costs as well.

As the saying goes, there is no such thing as a free lunch. There was probably a rebate lost out on so there is an effective rate that is being paid. Even with that a 7 year term with no $$ being added every month is pretty nice.

With my RVs in the past once I get them down under 20K or so I'll roll them over to credit cards with 0% teaser rates for a year or so. There's usually a 2-3% transaction fee so I'm really paying a couple points but I love seeing the payoff amount go down dollar for dollar as I pay. There are some other factors too like the interest goes from a tax write off as a second home to not and the debt goes from secured to unsecured which can knock your credit a tick.

I was thinking of doing the same with my truck but @ 2.5% if just doesn't make sense. Interest rates sure are nice these days. My parents are always complaining about the 18% rate they paid on their first house back in the 80s.

Not truck related, but I needed a new stove for making food @ the house....and the one I wanted was on sale for $2500.

I was ready to just put it on my regular CC and pay it off @ the end of the week like I normally do with all purchases....then I saw Lowes had a promo deal of 24 mos no interest as long as it is paid off in that time.

Well, since I was ready to pay it off at once, I know I can pay it off in less than 24 mos, so I put it on my Lowes card using the promo deal, and it will be paid off by this time next year no matter what.

I'll use free money, and it makes Lowes happy cuz I used the card (even tho they don't get any interest), seems like a win-win to me.

I get the new stove I want/need, and I also get to keep my emergency fundage at the same level.

I traded for a 17 BigHorn crew 4wd a couple weeks ago. I pulled into a dealer I'd never been to before, picked out the one I wanted, drove it, let them look mine over, then told the salesman what I would give in difference. Then I told him he had 15 minutes while I stood outside and made a couple calls. If he couldn't do it by then I was headed to another dealer to look at a truck. He came out in 10 min. and offered back $1k higher. I thanked him for his time and headed for my truck. The sales manager trotted out and said hold up, I'll accept your offer. 30 min. later I'm driving my new truck home. No financing and no B/S.

That sounds like a pretty no-hassle way to buy a truck!

2.24% interest. Owed no money to anyone so why not buy a new truck. Got rid of my 17 yr old Ram. Intentionally made high payments so it would be paid off in 32 months or less. The way I'm going it will be less than 24. Yeehaw

Meh I am impartial. I pay $690 a month on a Laramie (purchased new), I am thrilled with this truck in every which way, it rides so smooth for a truck, super comfy, lots of tech features and gets up and moves for a crew cab. On the other hand, $690 is a fair chunk of change and have often wondered about getting a cheaper $400ish a month car and banking the $290 into an existing retirement fund but I am just too happy with my Rams. My wife and I also have relatively high paying jobs with no kids, we aren’t strapped for the payment but at the sametime I know it would be smarter to drive something more economical.

Buying a new vehicle is always appealing. Nice shiny new truck. Nobody's ass but mine has sat here! The fact of the matter is that it's a depreciating asset. We all know that once you drive off the lot, you've lost 20% of the value. Hard to swallow. Is it worth it?

The other option is to buy used. Can you really trust the unknown, previous owner(s) to have treated the truck well? We've all heard various horror stories regarding used vehicles. Were all of the PM's done? Were they done on time? Who knows? That's the gamble though.

Me? I bought a used 2012 1/2 ton with 112k miles for $16,800. I drive less than 10k miles a year. I immediately threw over a grand at the truck in PM's just for my peace of mind (all done at the dealership hence the cost). I feel confident that my truck can and will last 500k miles or more by handling the PM's on time. I know where I'm at with the truck's health if you will.

Do what's best for you though.

Momma told me never to bring up 3 things......politics, religion or money and I’m already braking one. Lease payment wasn’t much better $447.... I’m going to look in the spring. Gotta lot of fracking boys up here and the standard work trucks are flying off the lots. No ones budgeing off of sticker too far. I can justify 400/425 but over 500 bucks for a no option truck sounds crazy.

Now I gotta ask where are you located because I am going to be that guy with you and say Fracing is the Oil industry spelling according to some of my clients and others have fracking so we have to settle the debate of frack/fracking vs frac/fracing?
