I'm running Kirkland synth in wife's Tuscon and in my Mustang GT. they don't have the right weight for my truck otherwise, I'd do that too. I just think the whole oil thing is way over thought. The internet makes it seem as if I don't use PUP my motor is going to catastrophically implode at 50K. If I have a particularly rough interval with lots of towing and hauling, I change my oil earlier. so with proper change intervals, quality filter, if my motor only lasts 200K instead of 400K then I admit I'm a moron but until then, I'm saving some money on synthetic oil that meet most specs.
Some would argue saving $225 per 100,000 miles is not worth the risk. But I don't think there is a real risk. and I like $225. A ram is not engineered and marketed to the elite buyer. It's marketed and sold to the masses. We are dumb and we do dumb stuff. We are also the idiots that review products. so if you sell a truck that's so delicately engineered to fail using appropriate grade Kirkland oil, you'll end up with a lot of 'this truck sucks' reviews and the company will lose sales.
or I could be wrong and I'll be out one Ram 2500, shopping for a Ford or Chevy....
