Anyone have long term experience with Hankook Dynapro ATM? I run 25-30k miles a year on my truck, not much offroad. Some light (@ 5k #'s) towing. I'm considering these and the Michelin LTX AT2.

I've heard the handbook arms are a very long lasting tire, the Michelin are too but are absolutely horrible offload.

hankook makes great tires. IMO they are better for a lighter truck but that is just my opinion. only because I dont thing they last as long on 3/4 and 1 tons as other options. one of the longest lasting tire brands is toyo. hard to beat if they make something you like.

I haul campers for a living. Cooper sucks. Period. 80k or whatever they rated at. You get what you pay for. I've kindled to Firestone transforce E rated tires and I get 160k miles out of them
. don't cheap out on what keeps you rolling, safely and reliably!

Funny those are the same tires I have, good traction, quiet on the highway BUT 18K miles and they are worn out, I have never done a burn out or any hard braking, but they are worn right down to the indicators. :Frustrated:

comrades!

i have the bfgko2 tires

i love them

however, at 7500 miles, they are half done.

i live at the top of a 12 mile extreme hill.

yes, i rotated them. and i dont drive like a wild man.

these tires were AWESOME in the snow - but now not much tread left...

any suggestions?

cheers!

This is exactly the same issue I had with these tires. At 15k they were to the point I wouldn't want to run them through another winter. Maybe on a lighter truck the KO2's would hold up better, but certainly not something heavy like an HD Ram. I'm running a Cooper S/T Maxx now, but if you were looking for a more direct competitor I'd probably look at either the Toyo Open Country AT2, Nitto Ridge Grappler or the Goodyear Duratrac. I just decided to try a 35" tire and wanted something aggressive looking.

Damn! That's a great looking combination. Did you get those local, from a national chain or online?

Tires came from TreadDepot.com and were a pretty good deal at about $290 each. Rims came direct from Centerline. FWIW, I had an issue with one rim not balancing (even on a road force balance machine) so had to revert back to the stock rims while I wait for a replacement to arrive.

Very happy with the tires overall although they do have a slight hum at speed where the KO2's were about silent. They are also 68lbs each so a good deal heavier than a stock size tire. But they are in the ballpark of about every other 20" 35x12.5 tire I could find.

So far I'm liking the Terra Grappler G2's, not loud at all.

Anyone hear anything on the new Continental Terrain Contacts yet? They have a 60000 mile tread life warranty.

Don't know about that tire specifically, but my wife's old Charger came with OEM Continentals, and they were on the wear bars at 18K miles, so Continental gets the "black X" from me.

I am a huge fan of the Michelin Defender line of tires. I had them on my 2015 Ram 2500, and plan to install them on my 2016 Ram 3500. The ride is very smooth, and the tires are quiet. Traction is supposed to be good in wet and snowy weather, although I didn't get a chance to try it.

I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it myself now. I have run many sets of BFG AT/KO on many trucks and had awesome wear. I bought a set of the "new and improved" BFG AT/KO2 and at about 15000km they are more than half done. I can't see myself keeping them past next summer- if that. Really disappointed in this new compound. Wore really fast even with religious rotation and pressure monitoring. I quite literally got one winter and one summer out of them and they are on their last season. Now the search begins to replace the brand.

I ordered a set of general grabber X3 E rated (275/70R/18) on friday. will report back on them once we get them on.

Cool tire. I like the outer lugs a lot. The inner tread design is different.

I FINALLY, took almost 9 months. decided on a tire. 285/75/18 Toyo M/T. I just cant bring myself to by anything but an M/T.

Since this is a tire thread for load range E tires i wanted to ask somthing.

Iv read a lot of controversy on getting mud tires siped. I have however found a trend in what IS suggested when getting it done. That trend is to only have the center lugs siped. It is a popular thing to do on some forums and wanted to know yous guy'ses thoughts. Doing only the center lugs prevents chunking if the outer lugs that are more venerable.

Im considering it.

I know the risks of chunking. But the other "risks"are just like the positive and negative opinions. They are just that. Opinions. There is not a lot of scientific data on getting tires siped after the fact.. More controversy.

I will proboly run the soon to be new M/T's as is for the first winter.... unless it is a standing opinion here that its a "must do" thing.

Thanks for your thoughts
