It is with great sadness, that I announce the passing of the eBay swaybar end links. If anyone would like to say a few kind words, now is the time haha
Long story, I wasn’t fully paying attention and I was trying to find a house where I was supposed to buy wheels/tires for my boat trailer. I pulled into a driveway and stopped then went to pull forward and quickly realized I swung wider than I thought when o felt the driverside tire go into the ditch. The ditch wasn’t very big at all really so rather than trying to reverse, I said hell with it and continued to ease forward.
When the rear tire went off it felt like I’d ripped something. I couldn’t see damage and only saw dirt under my trailer ball threads so I came to the conclusion that it was just my drop hitch bottoming out on the driveway.
Well after I could tell the truck was swaying all over when driving. It felt like a boat. I checked. The rear multiple times and found nothing. On the way back from lunch, I scrubbed my front tires hard as hell when turning into the neighborhood (body leaned)
I checked the front and boom, there it was.. broken passenger end link. I guess the eBay links didn’t like the crazy angle my front axle went at.
$145 later, and I ordered nicer ones from eight lug truck parts. They have a polymer insert to help keep quiet AND grease fittings on both ends (these didn’t have ****)
These eBay ones popped and knocked from day one but they were better than my bent and half broken stock length ones.
I guess those boat tires were a little more than $58 each afterall........
P.S. Never took it out of 2wd during the ditch incident and never spun tire that I noticed [emoji106]
