This is a great build. I'm waiting for that new rear bumper and bedliner on the sides!
Thanks

I’ve been debating on the bumper. I’m thinking of just ordering another stock bumper but in black.

I’m definitely planning to bedline the lower portions, but got to get my new door painted and put on and the fender painted. It’s hard because when I finally get home from being out of town, I don’t want to wrench all day in the southern sun [emoji53]

Haven’t done anything except replace the fan motor on my ac condensor.. I bought land, and a boat and have been working the truck. Planning to stack an old boat trailer on the utility trailer and haul it this weekend because it needs work. I am trying to find enough downtime so I can paint my driverside fender and tape off my new driverside door and paint it too.

I also never got around to finishing my
Plastidip on the front bumper as you can tell..

Life is hectic.. I hope to get slowed back down and able to just do fun projects only soon.

It is with great sadness, that I announce the passing of the eBay swaybar end links. If anyone would like to say a few kind words, now is the time haha

c571e4c63b5cdea478371efec94faf2e.jpg

Long story, I wasn’t fully paying attention and I was trying to find a house where I was supposed to buy wheels/tires for my boat trailer. I pulled into a driveway and stopped then went to pull forward and quickly realized I swung wider than I thought when o felt the driverside tire go into the ditch. The ditch wasn’t very big at all really so rather than trying to reverse, I said hell with it and continued to ease forward.

When the rear tire went off it felt like I’d ripped something. I couldn’t see damage and only saw dirt under my trailer ball threads so I came to the conclusion that it was just my drop hitch bottoming out on the driveway.

Well after I could tell the truck was swaying all over when driving. It felt like a boat. I checked. The rear multiple times and found nothing. On the way back from lunch, I scrubbed my front tires hard as hell when turning into the neighborhood (body leaned)

I checked the front and boom, there it was.. broken passenger end link. I guess the eBay links didn’t like the crazy angle my front axle went at.

$145 later, and I ordered nicer ones from eight lug truck parts. They have a polymer insert to help keep quiet AND grease fittings on both ends (these didn’t have ****)
These eBay ones popped and knocked from day one but they were better than my bent and half broken stock length ones.

I guess those boat tires were a little more than $58 each afterall........

P.S. Never took it out of 2wd during the ditch incident and never spun tire that I noticed [emoji106]

New swaybar ends links are on. They’re soooooo much better than the old ones. Going to try and order a new stock rear bumper for now since the old one is so smashed. Trying to minimize any dings I can and that sticks out like a sore thumb.

For now though... this has been my latest “addition to the megacab” [emoji16]‍♂️[emoji106]

Thanks!
When he rode the other week, that’s probably one of the only times I’ve ever driven the megacab like a grandma. [emoji23]

This is both of our first. We’ve been together off and on for roughly 6 years and it was unexpected. I’ve been trying to work on some things that I should have done better/differently and work it out with her. I have half of the puzzle, now just need that other half [emoji106]

I didn’t really know what to say. I just kept grinning uncontrollably haha. I look at her even more affectionately now because she gave me the best gift ever.

I should have some stuff new on the truck relatively soon. I’ve been busy fixing my four wheeler after breaking it all the time by sending it too hard and buying guns ‍♂️

I have also been too busy with trying to clear my recently purchased land so I can start looking to develop it and have a home for the 3 of us instead of relatives. I honestly wish I was home more to see them. I’m not liking over the road work anymore but I like the paychecks. I guess I have to do what I have to do in order to take care of them and just miss out on some things..

I hear ya man. Kids are great! And yea that otr **** must be way harder now. I can't even imagine. I have an overnight load about once every two weeks and I can't stand it. But like you said. The pay checks are good and you're taking care of your family. It's a crazy road!

Ordered a new rear bumper. The front is still chrome but I’m going to get a quote and see if I can get both bumpers sprayed with line-x. I have it in the bed and I love it.

17dddd315a7206ac29feab9be6267c70.jpg

My next big purchase plan is this. I’ll be using the bolt-in kit so I don’t have to drill any holes in my bed rails. I’m always worried when hauling stuff that can stick above my bed at all.

Been putting it to work here lately and had to treat the bed to a good pressure washing to get all the clay out of it.

Going to be getting the truck all dirty again this weekend though, clearing our land. Gotta use it to pull stuff up and tow the trailer so stuff can be loaded and some logs thrown in the bed also.

Gotta get in a rush on it so we can get our home started together.

eBay link bars are ok, but bushings keep turning to **** around 3,000 miles for some reason and I can’t have a truck I can’t drive and use for hauling when needed.

Ordered a level 4 tier set of uppers and lowers from core 4x4 and they should be on next week. Little pricey and set me back $619.99 but I gotta have something. These use heim joints on both ends so no bushings to wear and they’re completely rebuildable and the parts are cheap/readily available.

My current adjustable link bars were the worst thing I ever bought [emoji107]
I even got these in a nifty color for the megacab [emoji6] I’ll have photos next week. I made sure I ok’d it with the boss prior haha.

Those front link bar bushings sure are wearing out.. I can already feel so much slop in them now when reversing.. [emoji31]
I’m anxious for my badass new link bars to arrive next weekend. Should take maybe an hour to swap out all 4 and pump grease into the heim joints.

Bumper still isn’t in, but made it earn those new parts today [emoji23]

The bars normally come in charcoal or black but I paid the extra $20 for blue. Matches my truck pretty closely. I’m super excited.

Lowers are on. These are noticeably larger diameter than those cheap eBay bars. I have miles of clearance at full lock but if the wheel comes up a few inches, the tire rubs the bar just enough to take paint off [emoji36]
I have some 1/2” wheel spacers coming that should hopefully remedy that for now. I want to go taller on my lift later which will allow me to offset the wheel more. The other option would be to buy another set of lowers from them, but curved to allow clearance

Gotta put the uppers on later. I’m also working on the new rear bumper. I’ve marked cutouts for lights and I plan to order a bedliner kit and spray it myself due to scheduling issues plus as a side effect it saves me $50 roughly. The new “step pad” or whatever it’s called that goes on top is shipped and will be here this weekend.

Talked with the shop in Utah, and I shipped my lower bars back. They’re going to strip the paint and put the curve in the bars rather than charging me for new bars. It’s just costing me shipping. They should hopefully be back Friday/Saturday. Had to throw my
Old eBay ones on with the shot bushings and it was horrible driving this weekend [emoji107]

“Step-pad” for the rear bumper came in this week though. I didn’t get a moment to cut out the holes in the bumper for my flush mount led pods but atleast it’s marked. Going to order the bedliner this week or next and fire up the compressor and put a good, thick coating on the bumper once the holes are cut for the lights and get it installed this weekend or next. It’s going to look soooooo much better than my smashed up stock one.

Gave the megacab a really good workout though. Hardest I’ve ever made it work. The weight was a bit more than I expected so even with the dual axle trailer, the rear of the truck was squatted down pretty good and the trailer tires looked flat. Had to go 35mph the whole way (only about 14-17 miles) because the trailer bounced so bad on bumps and it was swaying the truck reeeally bad. Couldn’t add tongue weight though cause my rear tires originally touched the wheel wells on the bed before the guy moved some dirt back. Truck pulled fine though, just needed a little more trailer but that was a mis-calculation on my part. About 6,000LB plus of top soil.

Got a little rushed on the holes and they don’t look great but the lights fit and you won’t notice.

273e1afa0a27a2eaa1f4dba8c148dd25.jpg

All that’s left is to buy bolts to attach the lights then drill the holes for them and order the bedliner kit to spray the bumper then I’ll bolt them in,attach the new step pad to the top, then bolt the bumper on. I can hardly wait. The original bumper has been smashed since I became the owner of the truck and it’s one of those things that I feel embarrassed because I’m sure people assume I did it and I didn’t.

Had to ship the lower back and get the bend put in them for extra tire clearance but seems perfect now. I’m thinking I may have to do the same with the uppers but oh well. They’re super smooth and well worth the money.

Work has slowed for winter and busy paying more important bills, but I should hopefully be able to order the bedliner kit soon and get the new bumper put on.

No photos.. been busy with life.

Still need to bolt one of the new upper bars on and check clearance to see if they need to be bent for tire clearance. I did finally get bolts for my bumper lights. Going to mark the holes and drill them out this weekend and paint the edges so they don’t rust. Work has slowed but hopefully soon it’ll pick back up enough that I can order the bedliner supplies and then the rear bumper will get installed. [emoji120]

Drilled all the bolt holes for the flush mount led pods, and got one coat of bedliner applied to the bumper. When I get home today I’m going to mix up some more and apply a coat to the backside then after one more coat to the front, it will be ready to bolt onto the truck and then bolt the light pods in. I’ll wire them up next week or so. The pod cutouts aren’t pretty, but they fit and when the lights are in you won’t see the mounting holes anyway. Didn’t feel like taking time to use a jigsaw. Just wanted something functional.

Lights in and second coat of bedliner put on the outside and one coat on the inside. Also snapped my new trim piece on. Just need to put it on the truck and put my tag lights in. Not sure yet how exactly I’m going to wire the bumper lights.
