My2014 Longhorn 1500 CC 4x4 has just under 48k miles. Occasionally when I hit a slight bump I hear a faint little squeak or chirp from what sounds like the left front end. It doesn’t do it all the time. Any ideas ?

Stock suspension and wheels.

could be any number of things, going over a bump you are loading and unloading your suspension. It could be the bushings on the sway bar, sway bar end links, coil springs rubbing in the spring seat, something loose etc... I would get under it and have someone push up and down on the bumper or rock the truck to see if you can isolate the sound then go from there.

I have an 13 1500 Big Horn that does the same thing. Its been in the shop 6 times in the last year. Seems to get worse when its cold. They have changed the Sway bar bushings. That maybe helped a little. But beyond that they have no clue whats causing it. It goes back in next Monday 3/19/18. Last time they had it for a week and still couldn't get it fixed. Everytime it goes in I think they spray lube on some parts to make it go away. After about 3 weeks it comes back. Its almost to the point I'm ready to trade it off for another truck. Good luck on finding a cure for you chirping bird. I will be watching this thread closely.

Not sure what kind of squeak you have, but mine used to make a squeaky/scratchy noise going over bumps, especially in the cold. Turned out it was the spacer they used at the factory to install the windshield. Removed the spacer, and no more noise.

The spacers are underneath the windshield wiper cowl, against the firewall just below the windshield. There's 2 of them.

Hello Nystagmus,

You've got some great advice here. Just to chime in, if you decide to get this noise inspected by your Ram dealer, let us know. We'd be glad to get this process started on your behalf.

I took my truck in and they tightened the upper strut mounts. That had no effect. I’m going to look into this windshield mount deal. This is so frustrating. Been messing with this for over a year.

Any more updates on this thread guys? Mine is still doing it and goes back to the shop next week again. The dealership has been good about dealing with it. I took the tech. a ride in it last night so he could hear it. He heard it and determined I'm not crazy. I think we are to the point we need to start replacing parts. Where do we start I have no idea.

I hadn’t heard my noise for a few weeks....then we had a cold snap this past weekend and it started up again.

A little over a week ago we took the nerf bars off to check and make sure it wasn't them. It was not them.
Mine will do it off and on. Depends on temp. Colder it is the louder it is. And if Ive drove it in the rain it will not do it for about a week. My truck is not a daily driver. So it gets lots of drying time in the garage. So I'm thinking its something in the suspension. If it gets lubed by rain its quiet as a mouse for about a week. I would sure love to get this fixed. I love the truck but cant stand to drive something that squeaks. Its almost embarrassing to go thru a drive thru. The wife wants me to sell it and get a different truck or a new truck. But I like everything about this truck including the payment.
