2020 Ram 1500 crew with 59,000 on it. Hemi VVT. Too many miles? It’s a level 2 and priced well. Just curious about the 2020 model year with this Hemi. Anything to worry about? Thanks!

Well it's 59,000 miles closer to wiping out a cam lobe or exhaust manifolds warping but when that happens could be a few thousand miles or several hundred thousand miles... LOL
Those are the two big problems that have haunted all the Hemi engines for years. Some people think $12 a quart oil will save the cam yet other never have the problem using quick lube mystery bulk oil.
If this truck is at a dealership and it's extremely clean you know they have good detailers.

On the test drive leave engine running while warm and check for warm idle tick, which is almost more like a knock. If it doesnt have warm idle hemi tick, it is a good sign you have a good ram. Now it can pop up, but I'd feel comfortable with those miles. What is a level 2?

@Burla:

Level 2 is trim, packaging. OP, which trim: Bighorn, or Laramie etc. But Level 2 equipment group is also tied to trim: As in which Model 1500. Changes with different models also. So really depends upon both the model bought, which trim-equipment level, and also sometimes location, as there may be SPECIFIC groups of features/options that replace standard equipment for a particular region, like Texas, or say Northeast.

FROM WEB:
What is Level 2 in a Ram truck?
Level 2 has some nice features the level 1 doesn't have… proximity sensor, heated and cooled front and rear seats, reclining rear seats, digital rear view, HK sound, 360° camera, fob tail gate release, more alcantara, head up display.

So typical do dads that most of these Rams have but nothing special, not that there would be, same old same old on the power train. The list just looks good volume wise..you get tired of reading it..BUT..5 additional gal of gas AND a Foam Bottle insert to boot..WOW!!!

I sold my 2019 a month shy of 4 years old with 86K on the odometer. Parking it next to my dad's 2020 with 5K miles and you wouldn't have know it had and extra 80K miles on it...and it drove just as good.

Industry standard is about 12K miles/year average (real average is probably closer to 15K/year) so 59K isn't that high.

Any info on the prior owner? Not all high miles are the same. I live 30 miles from work, 30 miles from my parents, and 30 miles from my oldest kid (all in different directions) so rack up the miles on the highway going between all of them.

My 86K personal miles (mostly highway and a lot of steady state "cruising") were probably a lot easier on the truck than if it had 40K miles of Uber, Door Dash, pizza delivery, and Amazon dude.

Just my .02

Mine had the CD player. I think they ditched that in 2020 or 2021 and just put in an extra pocket.

I was a CD person until this truck so was happy to get one. With all the media inputs and USB ports compared to my last truck it took me less than a year to be a convert - I burned all my CDs to digital and put my music on a thumb drive (and sold my CDs at a garage sale).

After the first year I wished i had a pocket instead as I never used the CD player again.

I just traded my 2018 with 119,000 miles on it. So mileage wouldn't be an issue for me. It's how those miles were accrued that I would question.

What kills me, you pay sooooooo much for a truck and they gotta add a charge for "5" gallons of gas, so U can move the truck like loading and stuff, just tooooo much.

BUT, IMHO, very humble, I think the music off a CD sounds better than a thumb drive, U just not gonna be able to put a mass amount on one unless you use a DVD, and I do not even know if these CD players will play a DVD vs CD. I think with FAT and all on USB's, 32 GB may be the limit, not sure. Just not play enuf with stuff like that. I am one of the ODD BOIRDS: I still have SIRIUS in my truck, which I pay for, instead of messing with Media as truck parked 98% of the time and 99% of the time, just local runs.

I still use Sirius in my truck. I renew for $9.99 when it’s due.
I also use a thumb drive in our trailer and the wife’s Odyssey, 1800 plus songs on a 16 GB drive with still more space.

Is that $9.99 per month? I pay a lot more than that on a yearly rate. $189 for one that might be the truck and more for a home based unit in the garage.

It's funny, the issue about data compression from a CD to a thumb drive is not nearly as impactful as it was converting from record to CD. If you listen to a song on a record and then listen to it on a CD. You'd be amazed that you can pick up nuances of how different it sounds.

But for transferring music from a CD to a storage device. You can select to not compress the data so that you get the same exact sound regardless of how you listen to the music. However, a CD on average will hold about 700 MB of data. So if you have a 32 gb storage device and don't compress you're going to not get your entire collection on it. Of course you can compress the data and put more CDs on one thumb drive, but then you might hear a difference. Although today's technology is pretty good about limiting audio impact so maybe not an issue.

Grind on them,i usually get 6 months of Sirus in Canada for under 30 bucks Canuck.I only get 6 months at a time, then cancel the automatic renewal, and in about a week i get a letter asking me to sign up,then i'll phone them and tell them i won't pay anymore then 25 bucks for 6 months, and they'll usually go for it."Do Not " do the automatic renewal, they'll gouge you to death on the automatic renewals

That sounds like the Platinum package (used to be All Access) for $10/month.

I have the Music & Entertainment package (used to be Premium I think) for about 1/2 that. I pay yearly and it was about $80 last time I renewed (service + fees).
